True Detective Season 4: Everything we know so far

True Detective Season 4 Release Date

Homicide is the illegal killing of one individual by another and is interchangeably used with Murder. While Murder involves a malicious intent to kill, homicide can be done in self-defense, too. Homicide, if proven in the United States of America, can be sentenced to life without parole, life imprisonment of up to 20 years, or 50 years imprisonment and parole only after 20 years. There has been the death penalty in aggravating scenarios, too.

But how would it feel being an officer who is designated to such a complex heinous crime. Looking at those bodies and talking to the suspects all create a massive psychological impact. Today, many police and legal procedural dramas are in place, but this show has only specialized and dealt with homicides, making it an interesting watch for all those who like investigations and mind-bending thrillers. We are talking about the 2014 released show True Detective. With three successful seasons, fans are wondering if this HBO-created show would return for a season 4. Here is all we know about True Detective Season 4.

Is True Detective Season 4 happening?

True Detective Season 4: When can we expect its arrival?

Yes. The show is happening and this time with many new experiments. It is a consistent pattern that the new season comes out after a long gap. This time, the anthology series will be named True Detective: Night Country and will see something new. Niz Pizzolatto, who was always not just the scriptwriter for every episode but also an active cast member on screen, has now decided to experiment by being on the backseat and getting new writers like Issa Lopez and new castings like Jodie Foster and Kali Reis.

It is also interesting to see Niz into direction, as the anthology now would have smarter twists and turns. The previous seasons saw every episode having a different homicide being investigated by a different officer. Let us see what comes out of this collaboration.

True Detective Season 4: When can we expect its arrival?

With an expected release date of 2023, the show has been pushed to 2024 due to the SAG-AFTRA and Writer’s Guild of America strikes. HBO is going to look for newer strategies to promote the shows, now that the actors cannot promote it themselves. With the last season out in February 2019, this would be a shock as fans would have to wait five long years to see the new season. But will it be worth the wait and hype? Time shall tell.

With Jodie Foster and Kali Reis as lead detectives, we also have,

  • John Hawkes
  • Christopher Eccleston
  • Fiona Shaw
  • Fin Bennett
  • Anna Lambe

They are the new additions to the cast but their roles are not disclosed to us. We do not know who is returning from the previous seasons as more light will be shed on that once the show is on track.

This can also be hinting at a new format or spin-off coming out of True Detective as so many bold steps at one go, is quite unlikely for a season 4, unless it is a new franchise they are planning to build on.

The fourth season is set in Alaskan Community that will soon enter the polar night period, where only darkness prevails. This long darkness also takes away a small crew from a research facility that Detective Reis and Detective Danvers begin working on. The mystique element is present but makers also hint at an experimentation with supernatural elements for this season. But no trailer is out yet to officially comment on the same.
