Will Virgin River Season 5 premiere a few months earlier on Netflix? Here is everything we know so far.
The most repeatedly asked question for the past few weeks among the fandom is, “Could Season 5 premiere earlier than expected?” The answer to this question is simply uncertain, but we can assure the readers that according to many reports, the new season won’t premiere in the coming months or by the end of this year, as it has been pretty much clarified by the network and is scheduled to premiere next year on Netflix just like the prior seasons.
Virgin River Season 5 has been filming in Vancouver since July 2022, and it is expected to wrap right before the holidays, sometime around November 10, 2022. So, this schedule alone clarifies that Season 5 won’t be released on Netflix anytime soon as the cast and crew are still hard at work filming the new episodes.
On the other hand, it is also crucial to note that the series is such a huge phenomenon for Netflix, and two of their big shows, Squid Game and Stranger Things, among others, are reported not to be airing in 2023. As a result, it is a favorable indication for Virgin River that the episodes may begin to air before the summer if the show’s makers opt to proceed with this plan and post-production is completed on time.
We don’t have any more information yet, but we wouldn’t be shocked if the fifth season of the drama series was released in the spring of 2023. So, there still is some hope. We just have to wait and watch. Additionally, if we go back to the release of Season 4, we can see that filming was completed in December 2021, and the season was released in July 2022.
Taking this into account, as well as the current development of Season 5, anything can happen which will be approved by Netflix. So, don’t worry; once the production starts to wrap up on time and the promotion of the series begins, the fans will be informed ahead of the premiere if any changes occur in terms of the release date or time slot.
Moreover, Virgin River’s showrunner Patrick Sean Smith, who helmed the 2019 Netflix anthology series Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings, tells Netflix Tudum: “I’m excited to be working with Netflix again, and I couldn’t be prouder to join the Virgin River family. Together with its stellar cast and amazing crew, we’ve got great things in store for our fans worldwide.”
With a new showrunner and some new characters at play, there will be major shakeups on Virgin River Season 5. Diversity and inclusion will be major focal points this season. “I’m hoping that in the future, we can bring more conversations to the table,” Breckenridge told Glamour.
“In season five, we’re bringing some more LGBTQ+ stories into the show, which I think is absolutely wonderful. I’ve been fighting for diversity on the show since we started, and I think we’ve been slowly moving toward a lot of that. Certainly with our new showrunner and directors. Netflix is really trying to bring more inclusivity into programming.”
Take a look at some newly released BTS pictures from the set shared on Instagram for the completion of 50 episodes and how the shoots are taking place, quoting, “Congrats to the cast and crew on the completion of 50 episodes of Virgin River!! Also, thank you to our beloved fans because we couldn’t have done this without you!” Take a look at the post below:

Virgin River Season 5: Where to stream the series?
All the seasons of Virgin River, along with the upcoming season, will be available exclusively on Netflix, with all previous seasons also accessible on the streaming platform with a range of membership options. You may stream movies and TV shows at no additional cost with any of their services, depending on the package you choose from.
In the meantime, to pass the time and understand the plot of the series, we recommend that the fans should rewatch Season 4, which follows the plants as follows the characters despite not knowing whether her baby belongs to her deceased husband, Mark or Jack, Mel begins Season Four with a sense of optimism. For years she yearned to be a mother, and her dream is one step closer to reality. While Jack is supportive and excited, the question of paternity continues to gnaw at him.
Complicating matters is the arrival of a handsome new doctor who’s in the market to start a family of his own. Hope is still healing from her car accident, and the lingering psychological effects of her brain injury will have profound consequences for both her and Doc. Brie, intent on proving the innocence of the man she loves, unexpectedly finds herself in a closer relationship with Mike and one step closer to Calvin’s violent criminal web. Even as Preacher forges a new romantic connection, he can’t help but hold out hope for being reunited with Christopher and Paige.
