There is no doubt that the different genres of shows, ranging from comedy to action to romance to the evergreen thriller, were quite amazing to stream, but there was one such category that was prominently missing! Can you guess it? It’s the genre that has become one of the main reasons for Netflix users around the world to subscribe to this streaming platform. Yes, you are absolutely right—it’s the HORROR category that gets all the attention from the viewers each year!

Wednesday Season 2: Will there be a big reveal in July?

Especially when the summer streaming season is right around the corner to end and flow into the fall season, where most of the shows are focused on this spooky season of Halloween! The fall streaming season on Netflix has always been some of the best times for the audience to binge-watch some of the greatest series with their friends and family that have been permanently tattooed in the viewers’ minds and that the viewers to this day like to revisit even though it’s been many years since their premiere!

Ranking at the top of the most-watched series from last year was the one and only Wednesday! This supernatural horror series is based on the popular character of Wednesday Addams by Charles Addams and has gained such amazing reception with only one season that it would be unfair not to list out some of the achievements. As within three weeks of its release, it became the second-most-watched English-language Netflix series.

It received two Golden Globe nominations: Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy, and Best Actress, Television Series, Musical or Comedy, for Ortega. Since its premiere back in November 2022, the Wednesday fandom has been curious to know what new developments have been happening for the highly anticipated second season. If you are one of them, then we can assure you that you’re in the right spot to get all the answers.

We at Web News Observer have compiled a list of all the crucial confirmations that will help you get a head start on the current status. So, it’s time to buckle up and learn more about Netflix’s Wednesday Season 2.

Wednesday Season 2 Release Date: Will it be revealed in July 2023?

Firstly, we want to clear out all the raging rumors surrounding the reports that the release date will be revealed this month. Sadly, we have to report to you that all of this is just chatter, and nothing has been confirmed about the official release date for the much-anticipated second season of Wednesday, as we are certain that no new details will be revealed in July 2023, let alone that the season will not be available on Netflix this year.

Yes, we are confident in saying that there is no chance that the show will premiere in late 2023 since the fandom will have to wait a bit longer! Another reason is that it has already been confirmed that filming is expected to begin sometime later this year, which makes it impossible to return in 2023. Moreover, we speculate that the ongoing writer’s strike has also become a major factor in postponing the development of the season even further.

Wednesday Season 2: Will there be a big reveal in July?

Due to this, a change in schedule can eventually lead to the premiere being set for next year or even later, as post-production also takes time to deliver the best version of the beloved characters. Moreover, Netflix hasn’t even provided a specific release date, as there is plenty of time left, which will be disclosed once production begins. For your consideration, we anticipate that the series will premiere sometime around early to mid-2024 at the same time slot of 12:00 a.m. (PT) or 3:00 a.m. (ET) on Netflix.

It is speculated to take at least another 12–14 months of filming and post-production, which puts the release of the second season somewhere next year, making it the ideal time frame to return to this world of coming-of-age supernatural comedy and horror series. We are certain that the ongoing writer’s and possible actor’s strike, which has been extended for a while, will indeed cause major hurdles on the way, which are best avoided by stopping the production at the moment and continuing it later.

What do we know about the plot?

On possible future seasons, Gough and Millar commented in an interview with Variety, “When we sit down to create a show, it’s looking at multiple seasons, ideally. That’s never expected, but that’s the expectation that hopefully, the show is successful.” They further stated that they had “a pretty clear runway” of how future seasons could unfold.

The series co-showrunner, Al Gough, also says he plans to delve further into the morbid teen’s growth if given the chance. “The series is really about a girl who sees the world in black and white, and learns there are shades of gray,” he tells TVLine. Further adding, “I think like any relationship or any friendship, it can get complicated by other factors. It’s never going to be smooth sailing. And it’s really her learning to navigate the ups and downs of friendship.”

Moreover, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gough and Millar stated that the second season would expand upon the friendship between Wednesday and Enid while also evolving Wednesday’s relationship with her mother, Morticia. However, Ortega stated that the season would lean more into the horror aspect while ditching any romantic love interest for Wednesday

As, she recently shared similar thoughts and comments during a conversation with Elle Fanning for Variety’s Actors on Actors, published in June 2023, quote, “We want to lean into the horror aspect of the show a little bit more,” Ortega said, “because it is so lighthearted, and a show like this with vampires and werewolves and superpowers, you don’t want to take yourself too seriously.”

Take a look at the entire Actors on Actors interview below with Jenna Ortega (‘Wednesday‘) and Elle Fanning (‘The Great’), in which they discuss Jenna’s struggles with notoriety following the success of ‘Wednesday.’ Putting on the producer hat for their different shows is what brings Elle and Jenna together. In “The Great,” Elle discusses how her role as Catherine has helped her mature, and Jenna talks about working with Tim Burton and having more sway in her second season.
