With 2022 nearing its end, it’s safe to say that Wednesday has been one of the most anticipated shows of this year. A combination of dark comedies, the series has exceeded over 752,000,000 million hours which could mean a green flag for the renewal of the show.

Directed by Tim Burton, Wednesday was his directorial debut. He worked on this project as both a producer and a director. The moment Netflix released the first look of Jenna Ortega in the iconic Gothic costume of Wednesday Addams, it piqued the excitement of the readers even more.

For those unversed, here’s the official synopsis of the show:

“Smart, sarcastic and a little dead inside, Wednesday Addams investigates a murder spree while making new friends — and foes — at Nevermore Academy.”

Although Wednesday has broken the glass ceiling and has proven to be one of the most successful Netflix Originals so far, the service has not yet officially announced the renewal of the show. But, but, there’s some good news for the Wednesday Addams clout. According to What’s on Netflix, on December 16, 2022, Netflix officially gave the green light for renewing the show for the second season.

In conversation with Variety, Peter Friedlander updates the subscribers regarding the renewal of the show. He says:

“You may know what I’m going to say — but I have nothing to confirm at this time. I am optimistic about “Wednesday.” We’ll leave it at that…It’s striking how quick something like this can explode on Netflix, and there is a lot you want to hear back from fans and audiences. It’s not just the dance, it’s people dressing up and buying makeup and wanting to look like Wednesday Addams. The resurgence, for me, it’s something that’s been in the culture for a long time — but never this pronounced. It’s something that we want to study and understand why this is such a phenomenon. And I think so much of it is Jenna’s extraordinary performance at the centre.”

What can we expect to happen in Wednesday Season 2?

Tim Burton’s ‘Wednesday’ Series: First Look, release date, plot and more updates

Since Netflix or the service hasn’t given us any official plotline, we will stick to our previous assumptions.

*Spoiler alert*

“The moment Xavier gifted Wednesday a phone, she received ominous messages from her first stalker. Even though Wednesday had a limited online presence, it seems a little awry as to how did she acquire a stalker the moment after she received a phone from Xavier.

In Season 1 of Wednesday, we saw Tyler, in chains, transported to a maximum security prison, or even a psychiatric ward. But before he could be completely transported to the prison, Tyler donned his Hyde form, letting the audience assume that he killed all the armed guards.

What will happen now with Tyler on the loose?

Season 1 also left on a sad note of Larissa Weems’ demise. As a result, everyone is left wondering who will become the principal of Nevermore Academy. The first choice can be Morticia Addams, Wednesday’s mother, who was formerly a student of Nevermore and a member of the Nightshades. However, if our assumption is right, then Catherine Zeta-Jones will be updated as a series regular.

Wednesday was also seen defeating Jeremiah Crackstone who was resurrected by Laurel. However, knowing that Laurel was the master of Tyler, there is a chance that Tyler could join hands with her and that could end badly for Nevermore and the outcasts.”
