Taylor Swift appears to have missed her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s latest NFL match for the first time.
On September 22, the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce struggled to win against the Atlanta Falcons. This was their third game of the current NFL season, and they barely grazed through to a win, beating them with the score of 22-17. However, this match was different for a surprising reason. His lady luck, as Kelce believes, was missing.
The 34-year-old pop icon, usually photographed strutting into her boyfriend’s playoffs an hour after kickoffs, could not be spotted during Sunday’s game, according to Fox News. In fact, she did not take the 4-hour flight to the foothills of the Alps to watch the Chiefs play.
The ‘Karma’ singer’s absence is understandable given that she was spotted on a girl’s night out with close friend and model Gigi Hadid on Saturday in New York City at The Corner Store, per Page Six.
In a clip from the Sunday game in Atlanta, Kelce, 34, seemed distraught in the now-viral video, where he was seen rubbing his eyes and staring into space as he sat on a bench. This is because even though the former Super Bowl champions won all three matches this season, the tight end’s performance has not been up to the mark, with him scoring only four catches for 30 yards against the Falcons. Under the clip that is currently doing the rounds on X (formerly known as Twitter), fans were quick to comment on his demeanor, with one writing, “This man looks TIRED,” and another adding sarcastically, “He’s been Swifted.”

The ‘Midnight’ album singer might have missed this game, but she is ready to cheer for her beau in the coming playoffs. In fact, the newly-minted billionaire is expected to cover as many Chiefs matches as possible this season while on her Eras Tour break, according to Us Weekly reports. Swift will be back on her road with her coveted Eras Tour on October 18 in Miami.
The 14-times Grammy winner attended Kelce’s first two winning matches for the season, where she even brought her mother, brother, and aunts to the game, which the Chiefs won against the Cincinnati Bengals. The first two matches that the singer attended were both scheduled at their home ground, the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas. Although the Chiefs have picked up a winning streak this season, Kelce’s lacklustre performance has not garnered much praise.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith expressed his concern over sports channels portraying more of Swift on the NFL screen during the Cincinnati Bengals match last Sunday than the players themselves, according to Fox News. He announced, “I love my brother from another in Travis Kelce, but we saw more of Taylor Swift than we saw of Travis Kelce yesterday, on a Sunday afternoon,” before adding, “That wasn’t supposed to happen. We were supposed to see more of Travis Kelce yesterday than we saw of her.”
Smith further loaded the tough love onto Kelce, saying, “That’s not happening though. You’ve got to get going, you’ve got 39 receiving yards in the first two games. Come on now. Football season is here. Honeymoon’s over. Let’s handle our business, OK.”
This is not the first time Swift has come under speculation for appearing on the big screen during Kelce’s playoffs. She addressed this anomaly while speaking to Time last December saying, “I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in,” before adding, “There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once.” The 14-times Grammy winner added that she was only present to support Travis and doesn’t care if she is “pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
Even though the billboard chart topper did not appear for Kelce’s most recent win in Atlanta, she will probably make a return on Monday, September 30, for the Kansas City Chiefs’ next match with the Los Angeles Changers.
