Following the steps of the previous season, will the fifth season of You be split into two parts? Continue reading to learn more.
There is absolutely no doubt that the fifth season will certainly get a renewal in the coming months, as the series already has an approval rating of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 53 reviews with an average rating of 7.3/10. On the other hand, Metacritic gave it a score of 73 based on reviews from 20 critics, indicating “generally favorable reviews.”
Even the star cast has been hinting that the show will have another season if it has to conclude the plotline without leaving any certain loopholes. With so much happening in the 2023-24 streaming season.
There are many original Netflix series that have split their season into two parts with comparable episode counts, which has helped viewers understand the story and relate how the events of the previous chapters are being connected to future plotlines.
For your consideration, The Glory, Firefly Lane, and Manifest are a few examples from this year alone that have done the same among other television series.
One automatically wonders if the upcoming season of “You” will also be split into two parts with five episodes each after hearing this. If you’re contemplating the same thing, rest assured that, as of March 2023, neither the network nor the show’s creators have made any such statements.
However, it is not out of the question that the new season will replicate the same, especially given the previous season’s success, as the story needed to be given a break for the viewers to speculate what is going on with Joe Goldenberg.
To put it in simple words, this strategy worked wonders and wasn’t a lead-down, as the final episodes were jam-packed!
One of the main reasons Netflix does this is to give viewers enough time to become engrossed in the show before continuing a lengthy conversation as they watch each week. As mentioned above, it reduces the chance of interest waning if the time between seasons is longer.
The break gave viewers a chance to decompress and process all the disclosures before they were ready to finish the season. It should be noted that, sometimes, these episodes were simply too lengthy, complex, and emotional to be broadcast all at once.
Netflix has a number of high-profile series that have the potential to grow even bigger, so it will be fascinating to see how it handles its most well-known programs going forward. But as we saw in 2022, Netflix has made some mistakes that have led it to lag behind in the streaming competition.
With more streaming services entering the market and a greater demand for desirable material, Netflix may want to use the split-season strategy to increase its market value, but only time will tell what they opt to go for. Many have also pointed the finger at Netflix’s recent price increases with various plans, which have also played a role in splitting big series into two parts along with the sudden cancellation of some high-profile shows.
This might have been done as an effort to keep customers on the platform for an extended period of time rather than terminating their subscriptions and switching to rival services. On the other hand, there is still a lot of time for such details to be revealed among fans because the network hasn’t even green-lit the season.
As the renewal usually happens a month or two after the premiere. So, there’s still a lot of time left for such an announcement. In general, though, if you enjoy You, then don’t panic about anything because it will probably be renewed soon; it’s just taking longer than usual. For readers who are curious to know more.
As per our guess, we can assume that if renewed in the next few months, the new season can premiere as soon as mid-2024, or even 2025!
*Spoiler Alert*
While you wait for more development, we urge viewers to stream You Season 4 which follows, After his previous life went up in flames, Joe Goldberg fled to Europe to escape his “messy” past, adopt a new identity, and, of course, pursue true love.

Kate confides in her fear of never being able to escape her father’s control and shares how her father exposed himself to have funded all of her endeavors despite their estrangement. After killing Lockwood, Joe makes an effort at suicide the following morning by jumping off a bridge.
He is saved by the police, however, and finds Kate waiting for him when he awakens in the hospital. Kate informs him that she has already covered up Joe’s participation in Rhys’ death and that she has received all of her father’s wealth. Joe chooses to embrace his darker side; as a result, he murders Edward and blames Nadia for it.
Later we learn that Joe moves back to New York with Kate, who manages her father’s company after his passing and makes Joe look like the victim who fled Love, thus rehabilitating his public image, while Marienne reads an article about Joe while at home with Juliette in Paris.
