“Are you Crazy?
No, my mother had me tested!”
Can’t wait for the Cooper gang from East Texas to return soon for their seventh installment? Neither can we! Since the multi-seasonal renewal of Young Sheldon in March 2021, we cannot wait for our brilliant yet humourous young scientist to grace our screens.
Young Sheldon had the viewers glued to their screens since its inception in 2017, while its parent series The Big Bang Theory was still running its course and was on its 10th Season. A presumable reason behind the early unparalleled success of Young Sheldon can be owed to The Big Bang Theory, an epitome of a humorous yet moving sitcom that took the world by storm. Our keen interest in the lives of a group of five scientists plus Penny, with Sheldon Cooper being the primary focus drove us into the realms of Young Sheldon.
It quite literally features a younger Sheldon, his peculiar yet quirky habits as he came of age with a background setting of Texas with none other than his family! Viewers of The Big Bang Theory quickly got attached to this prequel series because most of the references that flowed throughout the seasons always ‘rang a bell,’ as the references were picked up from the parent series.
We can proudly state that Young Sheldon was successful in shouldering the huge fan base that was still mourning the end of The Big Bang theory and was filled with high expectations from the prequel series. After all, it is based on Sheldon Cooper!
Nevertheless, fans have been clacking their keyboards throughout the months to surf out any information on the internet regarding recent developments surrounding Young Sheldon. When will Young Sheldon Season 7 be released? Has the filming for Young Sheldon begun? Did the strike situation delay Young Sheldon Season 7 even further?
If you are an ardent Sheldon Cooper stan and the same questions have been looming over your head, you have come to the right place. We at Web News Observer have gathered recent intel on the development of Young Sheldon 7 and how CBS is planning to please their viewers with Young Sheldon on their screens THIS FALL! Continue Reading to find out.
Young Sheldon Season 7: Is It Happening in 2023?

Well, you will be glad to know that CBS WILL bring Young Sheldon on their screens this fall, but not exactly in Season 7.
Here are the updates regarding the same.
Young Sheldon Season 7 was confirmed for a fall 2023 release as stated in CBS’ earlier fall lineup, where the show was placed on the Thursday slot at 8 pm. Since then, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have been successful in halting several productions like Stranger Things, Cobra Kai, and unfortunately, Young Sheldon Season 7 got caught in the web.
So, affirmatively, Season 7 production is currently on a hiatus. Moreover, the cast of Young Sheldon are members of the SAG AFTRA, so they are busy picketing for their rights. With no actors and this being the third month of the double strike, we are certain that the original plan of CBS for a fall 2023 release has successfully been quashed until further notice.
So how will CBS live up to its promise?
A trend with the most competitive networks like CBS has come up where they revised their fall lineup schedules and released them featuring reruns of the original CBS shows instead of the promised new season. This is because, amidst the SAG AFTRA WGA strikes, networks have found it promising and feasible to shift their scripted fall line-up series into 2024 and maintained reruns of the original series on the network, which won’t require new scripts or actors. A wise move if you ask me!
As it has already been hinted at by George Cheeks, President and CEO of CBS and Chief Content Officer, who stated during a keynote at Banff moderated by Deadline’s Peter White: “We wanted to build our schedule for when the world goes back to normal.” Further adding, “Once we had done that, once we locked it in, we spent a lot of time focusing on what it was going to look like.” He elaborated that a revised CBS fall scheduling plan is expected to be revealed soon. “First of all, obviously it’s going to be very reality-heavy,” he added.
Well, according to The Hidden Remote, it looks like Young Sheldon did bag a place in the fall schedule of CBS, in the sense that its earlier episode reruns will be shown. While it may not be what you had been hoping for, it is still better than not having Sheldon Cooper on our screens again. CBS noted that Young Sheldon will air every Thursday at the 8 pm time slot. Also, it is a great opportunity to catch up to the old seasons of the series in time for its 2024 release.
Yes, you heard that right! Creators indicate that scriptwriting should start by the end of this year in order for the new episodes to air within the first quarter of 2024. We are predicting a more realistic time frame given the volatile situation at hand, like the 2024 fall season. This also follows the history of releases of every season of the series. Seasons 1,2, and 3 aired at the end of September, whereas Seasons 4, and 5 aired in November and October, respectively, but that was due to the pandemic. Season 6 also followed the traditional release at the end of September. So, for Season 7, it is safe to use the phrase inspired by the Green Day band ” Wake Me Up When September Ends!”
However, if the strike ends sooner, we can expect the earlier estimation of a 1st quarter of 2024 release.

Young Sheldon Season 7 Plot
*Major Spoiler Alert*
Apart from CBS’ fall rerun of the original Young Sheldon show from seasons 1-6, let’s talk about Season 7.
From the looks of it, Young Sheldon Season 7 will also carry on deliberating the overall plot of the series, which includes:
For young Sheldon Cooper, it isn’t easy growing up in East Texas. Being a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn’t always helpful in a land where church and football are kings. And while the vulnerable, gifted, and somewhat naive Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him. In “Young Sheldon,” audiences get a chance to meet him in childhood as he embarks on his innocent, awkward, and hopeful journey toward the man he will become.
Also, Season 7 will pick up from where the Season 6 finale left off, named ” A Tornado, 10-Hour Flight, and a Darn Fine Ring.” We saw Sheldon leaving with his mom to Germany to begin college at the age of 11 (Big Bang Theory fans know this reference way too well), while the Cooper family braves a tornado, which dangers Mee Maw’s house. Additionally, Georgie and Mandy decide to marry, but we are yet to see how that turns out.

With that being said, it is difficult to predict the plot without knowing which age sequence Sheldon will be in in Season 7. With the creators hinting at Season 7 being the final chapter of the series, we can fairly predict what is to come in the next season.
Young Sheldon Season 7: Final Season? What plot lines can we expect?
When renewed, the next season was anticipated to include at least 22 episodes, and it is meant to be consistent with its predecessor. But now, the official episode count may vary owing to the ongoing strikes, which may have prompted the makers to slash the episode count by reducing the season to 15 to 18 episodes so that production isn’t rushed once the strikes conclude.
The creators have also hinted that it is the last season of Young Sheldon.
Executive producer Steve Holland has hinted about the potential end of the show in an exclusive interview with TVLine, quoting,
“We’ve certainly started to talk about [season 7 being the end]… When you’re in the middle of a season, it’s such a grind that we haven’t had too many in-depth conversations. But now, as we’re getting to the end [of Season 6], we’ve started to talk about it more.”
“There are certain things we know we want to hit next season, and there are certain things where, if it’s the end versus if it’s just [another season], those things might be different. It’s not my decision to make. I don’t think we’ll know for a while, but I don’t think it will affect the first half of [Season 7]; I think it will play out the same either way. But as we get near the end, I think it will play out differently depending on whether this is, or is not the final season.”
With that being said, Season 7 will probably be the heaviest, with Sheldon Cooper actually coming-of-age and facing grave issues with his puberty. It will probably be set when he is 14 years old, which will be a significant jump from being 11 years old. There is a lot of information to be cramped up between these years, and we just hope for a smooth-sailing final season. Not a rushed one!
We will probably see Sheldon’s college struggles, his struggles with the bullies at college, being smarter than literally every person in the room, and probably some form of success in graduating from East Texas Tech at the mere at of 14 in the year 1995.
For those of you who can relate to the events that took place in the 1995 timeline, we know that Sheldon Cooper first met Will Wheaton (the Star Trek kid who stars in The Big Bang Theory) at the Dixie Trek, so we might see an interesting montage surrounding their meeting and the event that went off, thereby driving Sheldon to hate him for a very long time until their union in The Big Bang Theory.
On the heavier news front, it was mentioned in Big Bang Theory in Season 7 Episode 9, that Sheldon lost his father when he was only 14 due to over-consumption of alcohol. It was also mentioned that his father cheated on his mother as well, surrounding the year 1995.
This indicates that Season 7 might be a heavy season with jam-packed information and leaping developments.
In case we come across any other developments on this, we will keep updating you the same.

Young Sheldon Season 7: Official Trailer
