Not all shows are known by the directors, producers, or actors. Some shows are known by the makers as well as the broadcasting company they come from. One such company that has provided us with famous shows like The Voice, America’s Got Talent Dateline, amongst hundreds of others, was founded in 1926. With its headquarters in New York, United States, this company has become one of the most reliable when it comes to entertaining its audiences with shows. The National Broadcasting Company, or NBC, is an American English-language commercial broadcast channel network that has been coming up with shows since times immemorial and has always experimented with all kinds of genres.
Recently, due to the writer’s strike, the NBC network is facing a setback, and there are chances that the shows that were planned to be out in 2023 are either going to be pushed to 2024 or might not return at all.
In case you are wondering if Chicago Med is on the list, unfortunately it is. Here are the eleven different shows that are loved by the audiences and were renewed or not renewed, might be canceled, or may not be returning in 2023.

But because he has been away from the field for a long time, he has to adapt to the new technologies that are in place. This was a success and was renewed for a fresh season. But because of the writer’s strike, now, the show will be coming out but not in 2023, and the episode count has reduced from 13, and there are also chances that there will be changes in the plot. Earlier, the show was set to release in the fall of 2023. But now only further announcements will help us with details.

Above that is a daughter who is trying to figure out where her family has gone and how she can get them back. A sci-fi series that was supposed to be coming back for a new season because of its cliffhanger ending will not be coming back in 2023. There are chances that could come in the fall of 2024. Fire is one of the most fierce elements of nature. It can destroy. What happens when a drama revolves around the concept of fire? There are firefighters and paramedics who are working around the corner day and night to save the lives of people who are a part of fire accidents and have a look at their families and the damage done closely. Some people lose the way they look. Some even lose their eyesight and their voice. Many others are never able to go back to the job. Most of these are laborers or people working in factories who undergo such lethal injuries that stay as scars for life. The paramedics and firefighters also face a lot of personal issues, but they usually keep it aside so that they can focus on their work. The show was loved by the audiences because of the unique take of showing paramedics and firefighters as humans with their own personal lives and also showing responsibility when the show was supposed to be returning for a fresh season. We got a sad update where they said that due to the writer strike and the latest release of NBC schedule for the fall. So, the show will not be coming back at the usual slot and is no longer going to be a part of primetime. The script and the characters can also undergo changes along with certain editorial decisions in place.

What happens in Chicago stays in Chicago. After the good news that Chicago Med is going to be back for a season nine, fans were also disappointed when they found out that because of the writer strike and political disturbances in the United States of America, there a high chance that the favorite show can be delayed as well as ambiguous because earlier the show was expected to return in 2023. But now, there are no chances that it is going to come back before 2024. The protests have led to an unfortunate incident where there are chances that the show can not just return for season nine but, despite its renewal, can be canceled permanently in the coming year.

What happens when Sergeant Hank and his intelligence group at the Chicago Police Department want to handle various kinds of offenses by people from different walks of life, from white collar crimes by educated people to murderers by not-so-privileged classes get criminals together and also bring them justice. Chicago P.D. was also renewed, like its original franchisee, for a fresh season, but the announcement has not been official. Because of similar reasons for the writer’s strike, there are chances that the show would not come back for a season at all. It is also because of the high costs involved in maintaining the other two franchises.

Automobile dramas are something new that one can venture out for if they’re looking for an offbeat experience. Unique and offbeat employees of an important automobile company in Detroit are trying to adjust to a new CEO and a shifting, changing dynamic industry. The new CEO is slightly different with her approaches and not conventional because of her lesser knowledge about cars, where she has to deal with a team that is well versed in cars and is ready to take her down like sharks. What will happen when she has good ideas but needs the support to execute them? How will she bring direction to the team and get together all the opinions and diversities? How will a modern workplace be formed? The show garnered a lot of attention because of its unique nature and commentary on how modern workplaces should look. But because of the strikes, as well as high production costs. The show has not made it to the list of NBC 2023 releases. However, we are not expecting the show anytime soon. Because it is a sitcom and only after the announcement, there are chances that within a year we will be seeing the show. So, nothing before 2025, to be precise.
The Blacklist
Year of Release: 2013
Number of Seasons: 10
Genre: Crime-Drama
IMDb rating: 8/10
Director: Michael W Watkins
Cast: James Spader(Raymond), Megan Boone(Elizabeth), Ryan Eggold(Tom Keen), Anya Banerjee(Siya Malik)
Where to watch: NBC Official site
The official synopsis reads: A wanted fugitive mysteriously surrenders himself to the FBI and offers to help them capture deadly criminals. His sole condition is that he will work only with the new profiler, Elizabeth Keen. Action thriller and a criminal drama. This American Crime Thriller television series tries to see deadly criminals and the ways to capture them despite 10 seasons of the show being a success and the latest season out just around the corner. The fans are not expecting a fresh season anytime soon because of the recency as well. The viewership data collection time period, along with the strike, made it difficult to understand if this was the right time to start the production of even a stable show because many franchises that had successful running shows shut down production midway after these strikes and political disturbances came underway. For these reasons, this is one of the top shows canceled in 2023.
New Amsterdam
Year of Release: 2018
Number of Seasons: 5
Genre: Medical Drama
IMDb rating: 8/10
Director: David Schulner
Cast: Anupam Kher(Dr. Vijay Kapoor), Tyler Labine(Dr. Iggy Frome), Em Grosland(Kai Brunstetter), Ryan Eggold(Dr. Max)
Where to watch: NBC Official site, Netflix
Another medical drama, where being a doctor in one of the oldest public hospitals in the United States of America is a dream, Dr. Max has set out to ensure that before he leaves the institution, there are reforms made and all the facilities not provided to the patients are being rectified. It also includes people from other industries and has made a very wholesome point of view. With the latest season out recently, there is no chance that the show will be coming back anytime before the fall of 2024. And for these reasons, it has not made it to the list of releases in 2023. There are chances that the strike can make changes in the way the production would happen, but this is a long-term goal. And we can have more clarity on that only after the official announcement is made.
Grand Crew
Year of Release: 2021
Number of Seasons: 2
Genre: Sitcom
IMDb rating: 7/10
Director: Phil Augusta Jackson
Cast: Grasie Mercedes(Fay), Aaron Jennings(Anth0ny), Echo Kellum(Noah, Carl Tart(Sherm)
Where to watch: NBC Official site
Sadly, this show is also not returning in 2023. The official synopsis of the show reads: Some friends always find the humor in career moves, dating drama, and more as they live their best lives as young Black professionals in LA. The crew consists of Noah, a hopeless romantic in too much of a hurry to settle down; his sister Nicky, who lives her life to the fullest; Sherm, an unexpected genius who plays the dating odds; Anthony, a finance guy who’s all about his career; and Wyatt, who’s happy to be married and out of the dating scene. No matter how chaotic life gets, they always make time to hang out at their favorite bar for good laughs and great wine.
While the shows have made a significant mark by the NBC network and have some unique plots and genres to be explored, due to unexpected circumstances, the shows are not returning or delayed. While these shows are not coming back in 2023, fingers are crossed that they will be back in the upcoming year.
