COVID: Strict restrictions in Ernakulam till next Sunday; Gyms and parks will not be open; No shooting

With the onset of the second wave of the COVID epidemic, a week of strict restrictions have been imposed in Ernakulam in the wake of the increase in the number of COVID patients in the district. Commercial establishments in the district, including shops, are allowed to operate only from 7 am to 5 pm. Restrictions are in place until next Sunday. Hotels and restaurants should be limited to parcel and takeaway facilities from 7 am to 9 pm. The collector informed that dining is not allowed.

Weddings and posthumous ceremonies must be registered on the COVID Vigilance Portal. Only a maximum of 30 people can attend weddings and a maximum of 20 people can attend funerals. No reunions of any kind, such as family reunions, are allowed. The operation of amusement parks, entertainment parks and clubs should be stopped in the district.

Gymnasiums, contact sports, team sports and tournaments are prohibited until further notice.
Based on discussions with theatre owners, theatres in the district may not operate until May 2. In addition, filming should be stopped immediately. All other exams except SSLC and Plus Two exams should be postponed. Tuition centres should operate only through online media.

All meetings and training programs conducted by government departments, organizations and private institutions must be conducted online only.
Medical stores and petrol pumps have been deregulated. There is no obstruction to public transport.
