Hospital fire in Maharashtra; Four deaths

Maharashtra: Four patients died in a fire at a private hospital in Thane. Several people were injured in the blaze. The fire broke out at the Prime Criticare Hospital in Mumbra, near Thane, 28 km from Mumbai.

The fire destroyed the first floor of the hospital. The incident took place at around 3.40 am. Three fire engines and five ambulances rushed to the spot.

Twenty patients were rescued from the hospital. Six of them were being treated in the ICU. Kovid had no patients in the hospital.

Maharashtra Minister Jitendra Awad said the families of the deceased would get compensation of Rs 5 lakh each. The injured will get Rs 1 lakh as compensation.

Earlier on April 23, 12 people were killed in a fire in the ICU of Vihar Vijay Vallabh Hospital in Maharashtra.
