Delhi: The state faces vaccine shortages in the ongoing vaccination campaign against the Coronavirus pandemic in the country.
The stock of ‘Covaxin’ for 18-44-year-olds has ended in the national capital Delhi on Tuesday. In such a situation, it’s decided to stop the vaccination campaign at 125 centres from Wednesday.
However, it is a matter of relief that ‘Covishield’ has three days of stock remaining here, and new stock is supposed to arrive by late evening.
125 centres will have to be closed due to lack of vaccine – Atishi
According to Hindustan Times, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Atishi Marlena said, “We have run out of Covaxin stock for 18-44 age group and will have to shut 125 centres where it is being administered after Tuesday evening”.
Atishi said that on May 10, more than 1.39 lakh people got vaccinated in Delhi, which is the highest daily figure. He also said that Delhi would get 2.67 lakh more doses of the vaccine by Tuesday evening.
She said that a total of 38,98,971 vaccine doses administered till Monday in Delhi. Of these, 30,36,965 people have for their first dose of the vaccine, and 8,62,006 people have the second dose.
On Monday, 12,651 new cases of coronavirus infection were reported, and 319 patients died in Delhi. With this, 13,36,218 people have been infected in the state so far. Of these, 19,663 patients have died, and 12,31,297 have been cured after treatment. The total number of currently active cases in the state has risen to 85,258. This is a matter of concern for the government.
