Seventeen people were killed and many others injured in a horrific road accident in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

According to the information, a tempo and a bus coming in the wrong direction collided in Kisan Nagar, Thana Sachendi, Kanpur.

After the accident, both the vehicles overturned in the pit and 17 people in the tempo died. All the deceased worked in a factory making biscuits.

Many injured are in critical condition.

Kanpur IG Mohit Aggarwal said that till now, the information had been received from the interrogation that the people in the tempo were going to work in the biscuit factory located at Sachendi.
On the way, the bus coming from the front hit me. After the accident, both the vehicles overturned, and all the occupants of the tempo died.
The deceased’s age is between 20 and 55 years, and most of them are residents of Lalepur village of Sanchedi district.

PM Modi expressed grief over the accident.

Expressing grief over the accident, Prime Minister Modi wrote on Twitter, “The road accident in Kanpur is tragic. Many people have lost their lives in this accident. I express my condolences to their families and wish the injured a speedy recovery,”
The Prime Minister has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the dead and Rs 50,000-50,000 to the injured.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also expressed deep grief over the accident. He wrote on Twitter that it is heartbreaking to know about the accident in Sachendi.

In a tweet, he said that the financial assistance of two lakhs would be provided to the victims’ families. Along with this, the higher officials have been ordered to reach the spot, provide proper treatment to the injured, investigate the accident’s cause, and submit the report.
