New Delhi: Vaccination is going on in the war against Corona across the country, including Delhi-NCR. The vaccination campaign is being expedited to protect government employees and front line workers as well as railway workers from coronavirus. In Northern Railway, about 76 per cent of railway employees have been vaccinated so far. Necessary steps are being taken to ensure that all employees get vaccinated soon. Special camps are being organized at major railway stations so that the employees can get vaccinated easily. Along with this, attention is also being paid to the vaccination of their relatives.
Recently, employees above 18 years of age were facing difficulty in getting vaccinated. Employees’ unions had expressed concern about this. Railway officials claim that the hurdle in vaccination has been removed. In Northern Railway, about 95 thousand employees have been vaccinated. Ashutosh Gangal, General Manager, Northern Railway said that railway employees are making a significant contribution in the fight against Corona. He appreciated the role of doctors and other health workers in the pandemic in a program organized at Baroda House on Doctors Day. He said that during this crisis, doctors are selflessly engaged in saving the lives of people.
He said that special cargo trains are being run to restore the supply of oxygen, medicine and medical equipment. 14,050 metric tonnes of oxygen was supplied through Oxygen Express to various cities falling on Northern Railway. Corona care centres have been set up in other hospitals including the Central Hospital of Northern Railway. 45 hundred corona patients have been treated in these hospitals.
