In stopping drug smuggling in the country, Delhi Police has got the biggest success so far on Friday. After months of efforts, the Special Cell of Delhi Police raided a house in Faridabad and seized about 354 kg of heroin of excellent quality. The market value of which is estimated to be around Rs 2,500 crore.Not only this, but the police have also arrested four accused related to the case.
According to India Today, Delhi Police’s Special Cell chief Neeraj Thakur said that this operation was going on for several months. It was successful on Friday. He said that the recovered 354 kg heroin was first brought to Mumbai by sea from Afghanistan through a container. After that, it was taken to Faridabad. From here, it was to be sent to the factory in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, for quality improvement.
Thakur said that this heroin was to be sent to Punjab after quality improvement. Before being sent to Madhya Pradesh, it was kept in a rented house in Faridabad. He said that recently an Afghan youth was taken into custody and interrogated. On his behest, on Friday, he seized heroin and arrested another accused from the spot. Subsequently, two other accused were also arrested.
Thakur said that the activity of this entire case was being conducted by the accused sitting in Afghanistan. There have also been indications that funds for this operation have been supplied from Pakistan. He said that one of the arrested accused is a resident of Anantnag. He used to provide chemicals to process heroin. Similarly, the job of two other accused was to supply ready-made heroin to different areas of Punjab.
Biggest action ever against drugs- Thakur
Thakur said that this is the biggest action to date. Similarly, the Special Cell has also succeeded in busting the International Syndicate of Drugs. Never before had heroin been confiscated in this quantity in the country. He said that the arrested accused are being thoroughly interrogated, and efforts trace the other accused. It could be a case related to narco-terrorism.
Delhi Police also caught 125 kg heroin in May
The Special Cell of Delhi Police had also caught a large consignment of heroin in May. During that time, the police arrested two Afghan nationals with about 125 kg of heroin. Both the arrested accused are husband and wife. The western district police were constantly getting information about drug smuggling, after which the police took action and arrested both the accused and seized heroin from them.
