A film is being made on the life of Subrata Roy, the chairman of Sahara India Group, by the filmmaker Sandeep Singh.

Sandeep said, “The story of Subrata is one of the most fascinating to date. It is a big deal to move out of a small town in Uttar Pradesh to become the founder of an organization with 1.4 million employees.”

He said, “Subrata Roy Sahara’s institute is the second largest after Indian Railways. He has been one of the most influential people, and Subrata does not want any identity even in Bollywood, politics and sports. He has seen all his ups and downs.”

Sandeep said, “It was not easy to get the film’s rights from Sahara India Group Chairman Subrata Roy. Many people had approached him for the biopic, but he did not want to bring his life on screen.”

He said, “I met him several times during the course of the last year and was able to assure him that the film will not be made for mere financial gains but will be dealt with in all honesty and will be factual. Finally, we were able to get the rights and we are upbeat about the project.”

Who is Sandeep Singh?

Sandeep Singh is a friend of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. He came into the limelight when Sushant passed away. Sandeep had described himself as a close friend of Sushant.
However, their friendship was questioned by people when Sushant’s family members said that they did not know Sandeep.
Sandeep has made films like ‘Mary Kom’, ‘Aligarh’ and ‘PM Narendra Modi’. He is one of the producers of Amitabh Bachchan’s upcoming film ‘Jhund’.
In 2012, the Securities and Exchange Board of India held Subrata Roy guilty of illegally raising money from lakhs of people through chit funds in violation of market rules. Later, Subrata Roy was convicted in this case for a long time.
Sahara India Group is involved in various sectors from chit funds to construction of townships, hotel business, education, entertainment, tourism, healthcare, and media.
