Speculations of former political strategist Prashant Kishor joining the Congress have once again intensified. As reported by India Today, Rahul Gandhi held a meeting with senior Congress leaders a week ago to discuss the possibilities of Prashant joining the Congress. 

Kamal Nath, Mallikarjun Kharge, AK Antony, Ajay Maken, Anand Sharma, Harish Rawat, Ambika Soni and KC Venugopal etc. attended this meeting held through video conferencing on July 22.

In the meeting, Congress sources said that in the meeting, Rahul Gandhi shared details of his recent meeting with Prashant Kishor, in which Prashant had told the plan to revive the Congress and discussed his own role in it. A leader who attended the meeting said that instead of playing the role of an advisor from outside, Rahul discussed the possibility of Prashant joining the Congress.

Opinions of senior leaders – Prashant can be useful, but it is necessary to set limits

The advantages and disadvantages of Prashant joining Congress were also discussed in the meeting, and most of the leaders said that Prashant could be useful for Congress, but his role and extent should be fixed. A leader said, “It is time to bring new ideas and strategies. There is no harm in bringing Prashant Kishor into the party, though the role can be discussed.”

“Great talent and potential in Congress”

Another Congress leader said, “There is a lot of talent and potential in the Congress, and we should be ready to make changes for the better.” 

However, till now, nothing has been said officially from both sides on this issue.

Prashant Kishor met the Gandhi family on July 13

Significantly, on July 13, the three members of the Gandhi family met Prashant Kishor in Delhi, and since then, there is speculation about Prashant joining the Congress. Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi attended the meeting in person, while Sonia Gandhi attended it through video conferencing. Congress had said that significant issues were discussed in this meeting.

Before meeting the Gandhi family, Prashant also met Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar thrice in two weeks. There is speculation that Prashant is busy bringing the opposition together for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
