Indian women missed their chance to win an Olympic medal

Today was a day full of hope for India at the Tokyo Olympics. The Indian women’s hockey team lost in the bronze medal match. Indian women showed a great game, but luck did not support them in today’s match.

Apart from this, India is looking forward to medals in wrestling and golf. However, in wrestling, Bajrang Punia has missed the chance to go to the finals.

Let us know how was the day of India today.

Great Britain defeated the Indian women’s hockey team 4-3 in the bronze medal match of the Tokyo Olympics 2020. With this defeat, Indian women’s dream of winning an Olympic medal has been shattered. India had taken an impressive 3-2 lead after going 2-0 down, but Britain played well in the last two quarters and won.

Bajrang Punia defeated Ernazar Akmataliev of Kyrgyzstan 3-3 in his first match of the Tokyo Olympics. He then won the quarter-finals against Iran’s Mortaza Ghasi by pinfall. There were high hopes from him in the semi-final match, but he lost by a huge margin of 5-12. Bajrang may still go back to India with an Olympic medal as he has yet another fight for the bronze medal.

Indian woman golfer Aditi Ashok has strengthened India’s hopes of getting India’s first Olympic medal in golf. Aditi is currently at number two, and she is in a race to get a silver medal before the final bout. The final is to be played tomorrow. If she performs well, she can get a gold or at least a silver medal. Aditi’s silver is assured even if the final is not made due to bad weather.

In the women’s 50kg category, Seema Bisla also lost her first match. Sara Hamdi defeated Seema 3-1 in the quarterfinals. Hamdi also lost in the next round and Seema’s way of playing in the repechage round was also closed. With Seema’s loss, India’s journey in women’s wrestling at the Tokyo Olympics ended without a medal.
