Ishant equals Zaheer in terms of Test wickets, here are the figures for both

Indian pacer Ishant Sharma was part of the Indian team’s historic victory in the second Lord’s Test of the series.

He took a total of five wickets in the second Test and played his part in the win. He equaled former Indian veteran bowler Zaheer Khan in terms of Test wickets.

Zaheer is one of India’s greatest fast bowlers in all formats.

Ishant’s Test career is going on like this

Ishant made his Test debut against Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in 2007.

After more than a decade, he is an experienced bowler with more than 300 Test wickets.

In his Test career, Ishant has taken 311 wickets in 103 matches at an average of 32.19.

He has taken 11 five wickets in the meantime.

Ishant has also taken ten wickets (10/108) once in the match.

Zaheer’s Test career has been brilliant

Zaheer is considered to be India’s best left-arm pacer. He was known for his swing bowling.

In a career spanning over a decade, he has achieved great success in Test and limited-overs cricket.

The former left-arm pacer represented India in 92 Tests, taking 311 wickets at an average of 32.94.

Like Ishant, he has also won 11 five-wicket halls.

This has been the case abroad

Zaheer is India’s third-highest wicket-taker in Tests abroad.

He has taken 207 wickets in 54 Tests outside India at an average of 31.47. He has taken eight-five wickets in the hall.

Ishant is just behind Zaheer in the list with 204 wickets. Ishant has taken nine-five wickets abroad.

Anil Kumble (269) and Kapil Dev (215) are the highest wicket-takers abroad.

Achievements of Zaheer and Ishant

Ishant has become India’s highest wicket-taker in England.

He has recently surpassed Kapil Dev to achieve this feat.

Ishant is the only Indian bowler to take more than 50 wickets in England.

Zaheer, meanwhile, remains the second fastest Indian fast bowler to take 300 wickets (89 matches). He also holds the record of scoring a double of 1,000 runs and 100 wickets (Tests).

Both bowlers have taken equal wickets at home

Interestingly, both Ishant and Zaheer have an equal number of wickets at home. Ishant has taken 104 wickets in 41 home Tests at an average of 31.11. Zaheer, on the other hand, has taken as many wickets in 38 Tests in India.

Both bowlers perform in the winning matches

Ishant has helped the Indian team win some memorable Tests.

Ishant became the hero of the 2014 Lord’s Test win. Ishant has taken 158 wickets in 48 Tests won at an incredible average of 24.41.

Zaheer, on the other hand, was also the match-winning bowler of his time. He took 149 wickets in 38 Tests he won.
