No matter how successful or unsuccessful Abhishek Bachchan’s films are, he never fails to experiment with his characters. Of late, Abhishek is in the headlines for the film ‘Bob Biswas’.

Ever since its trailer has been released, people are all excited about the movie. Recently, Abhishek had revealed that during the shooting, his weight had gone up to 100 kg.

Here is what Abhishek had said.

It was difficult to manage the weight during the lockdown: Abhishek

Abhishek said, “‘I mean I had to gain weight while shooting in Kolkata in winters when you have a chance to have good messages and taste all the wonderful sweets of Kolkata, but mentally I was stuck.”

He added, “We had to stop work after completing half the shooting due to the lockdown. We had completed about 80 per cent of the work. We had 10-15 days more work left. I had to maintain that weight during the lockdown, which was difficult.”

Abhishek said no to prosthetics

Abhishek was suggested by director Diya Ghosh to use prosthetics, but Abhishek was not ready for it. “When you use prosthetics on the face, it looks like a prosthetic. The stomach feels different,” he said.

“I gained 100-105 kg during the shoot. If you look at Bob’s face, it looks chubby. Cheeks are full. With prosthetic makeup, it doesn’t look that real,” he said.

This is what prosthetic make-up means

Prosthetic make-up is an artificial way of changing one’s appearance. A lot of silicone rubber is used in the process. It helps actors get the desired appearance as suited for a character artificially without having to put their sweat and blood in it. However, it is not easy to act in prosthetics, depending upon the type it can get extremely uncomfortable to perform in that.

Several artists have resorted to prosthetic

From Deepika Padukone in ‘Chhapaak’ to Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar in ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ many actors have taken the help of prosthetics to bring their characters to life. Not only these, but Amitabh Bachchan in ‘Paa’  and Rajkummar Rao in ‘Raabta’ had also used prosthetic techniques.
