Mysuru: In Nanjangud town, a minor girl and her boyfriend tried to commit suicide by jumping into the Kapila River on Tuesday evening, according to reports.
Local fishermen saved them. They have been taken to a government hospital for treatment and are now safe.
Sources say they come from the Chamarajanagar district. The girl goes to PU and the boy works at a gas station. They jumped into a river after the girl was relocated from her hometown to avoid meeting her boyfriend.
A hospital in Nanjangud, where they are currently being treated, is where they were taken after the incident, according to the police.
“Their parents have arrived and they will meet with the police,” officials said.

One of the residents of Hullahalli, Nanjangud district, died on Monday after falling into a canal in the village. His final rites were held on Tuesday. Venugopal was a BA student who passed away. He drowned in the Hullahalli canal near the Gowrighatta road in Bangalore. He washed his legs in the canal when the accident occurred. As soon as they saw him struggling in the water, local women came to his aid and rushed him to the hospital, but it was too late. At the Hullahalli police station, a police report has been filed.
