Back in 2009, when Ranbir Kapoor’s romantic comedy-drama film ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ hit the audience, it became quite a rage. The film took Ranbir’s career to new heights and it kept him in the news for a while.
This Rajkumar Santoshi directorial received much love from the audience and Ranbir’s fans can’t stop but praise him for his acting and looks.
No matter how perfect a choice Ranbir looked for the role, but he wasn’t the first choice of the makers for this film.
Actually, actor Shahid Kapoor was first approached for this film.
Shahid had turned down the offer
According to reports, director Rajkumar had approached Shahid to play the lead role in ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’, but Shahid turned down the offer.
He was offered the role of Prem Shankar Sharma, the lead character of the film.
After Shahid declined the offer, Ranbir played the character in the film.
Shahid felt the character resembled Aditya Kashyap from ‘Jab We Met’
Ranbir was so fit in the character of Prem Shankar that the film became a hit. His acting skills gave life to this reel character.
It is said that the reason behind Shahid turning down the offer was because he felt that Prem Shankar’s character was similar to the character he played in ‘Jab We Met’ in 2007.
He played the role of Aditya Kashyap in ‘Jab We Met’. He was seen opposite Kareena Kapoor in this film. It was also a romantic comedy film.
It seems like Shahid had missed a great opportunity to act in a much-loved film directed by Rajkumar. However, after this, he got a chance to work in Rajkumar’s next film ‘Phata Poster Nikla Hero’. Ileana D’Cruzza was also seen in the film.
‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ became a highlight of Ranbir’s career
