If you call yourself a lover of romantic movies, there’s no way that you have forgotten 1990’s ‘Aashiqui’. Such was the craze for the film that the fans still hum the songs from this blockbuster. The film introduced actor Rahul Roy as a lover boy. The film was loved by the audience and despite being a low-budget film made at only Rs 30 lakhs, it grossed Rs 5 crore at the Box Office.
Seeing the success of the film, it was mandatory for the makers to come up with its sequel. And who would be a better choice than Rahul Roy’s son Aditya Roy Kapur. The makers were right and ‘Aashiqui 2’ too proved to be a super hit.
Even when the ‘Aashiqui 2’ fever was still high, fans started anticipating the third part. This paved the way for discussions about the making of ‘Aashiqui 3’.
Now, for the first-time producer Mukesh Bhatt has made an important disclosure about this.
In an interview with Times of India, when Mukesh was asked if ‘Aashiqui 3’ is being made. Responding to this, he said that at present there is no plan for ‘Aashiqui 3’.
“There is no plan for the film as of now. We need to have a script before we decide to make a sequel for one of the most successful franchises in the history of the film industry,” he said.
The news is bound to leave the audience heartbroken. And rightly so. They were waiting for a long time for an official announcement for ‘Aashiqui 3’.
While Bhatt has denied having any plan of making ‘Aashiqui 3’, sometime back the names of many actors came in the news for this film. Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan were some of the few names that came up for the film.
Recently, it was rumored that Ahan Shetty, son of veteran actor Suniel Shetty, might be seen in ‘Aashiqui 3’.
For the unversed, ‘Aashiqui’ was a romance-musical film and it did pure justice to its genre. If you are a fan of Bollywood movies, you might be knowing that there are very few musical films in Bollywood, which get so much love from the audience.
The film was directed by Mahesh Bhatt, who is Mukesh’s elder brother. Mukesh was the executive producer of this film.
Anu Agarwal and Deepak Tijori were also seen in the film. The chemistry of Rahul and Anu throughout the film was worth watching and needs a special mention.
On the other hand, ‘Aashiqui 2’ came to the audience in 2013. It was directed by Mohit Suri. Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur were seen in the lead roles in the film. The film also received an overwhelming response.
Mukesh Bhatt in particular has made his mark as a producer. Mukesh’s father Nanabhai Bhatt was also a famous director and producer of his time.
Taking forward their family legacy in the industry, both the brothers Mukesh and Mahesh have achieved success.
Mukesh’s first film as a producer was ‘Jurm’, which was released in 1990. Vinod Khanna was seen in this film.
