Joining the bandwagon, director Subhash Ghai has now decided to turn to the digital platform. For a long time now, he has been in the headlines for the film ’36 Farmhouse’. And now, the director has announced his film which will have an OTT release.
For a long time, there was talk that Ghai, the man behind several hit and super hit films, has joined a film named ’36 Farmhouse’. Breaking the silence, Ghai has now announced his digital debut through this.
He said, “It’s great if one can reach out to viewers across the world, who have exposure to great content. ’36 Farmhouse’ is sure to echo the sentiments of the Indian diaspora worldwide because it has family issues today at its core and it also explores the dichotomy of the rich and the poor through an interesting lens.”
Ghai even took to Twitter and wrote, “During the corona period, I have been involved in making my film 36 Farmhouse for Mukta art ltd n enjoyed interacting with the youngest n talented team of artists and technicians n enjoyed thoroughly creating an interesting dramedy film with them for Home Screen for ZEE 5. It’s again a cinema on small screen done beautifully n I loved the experience.”

Talking about his experience of making a film for OTT, he said, “The grammar of writing a screenplay and making a film for OTT is different than a grammar for big screens.”
He added that it’s a tough task to make a project worth repeating for OTT viewers. “There is a very little scope of pauses and stay and using the virtues of long shots on screen and also in narrative on home/mobile screen. So, it is a tougher task for us to make an interesting film with repeat value for OTT viewers which they can enjoy watching 20 times in due course compared to what happens in cinema.”
A thing to note is that Subhash Ghai is making his comeback as a producer after six years with this film. He last made the romantic action film ‘Hero’ with Salman Khan in 2015. The film marked the debut of Athiya Shetty and Sooraj Pancholi.
Subhash Ghai’s writing isn’t the only thing to look forward to in ’36 Farmhouse’. Sanjay Mishra, Amol Parashar, Flora Saini, Vijay Raaz, and Barkha Singh will be seen in this film. Their acting skills are something that the audience will wait to watch. The film is directed by Ram Ramesh Sharma. However, he was not Ghai’s first choice as a director.
Earlier, as per the reports, it was Vipul Shah who had the responsibility of directing the film. But because of the COVID-induced lockdown, the film got delayed, after which Vipul got busy with his other films and had to withdraw from the project.
For all the Bollywood fanatics, Subhash Ghai is a name synonymous with the romantic scenes filmed on screen. This is why he is also called the showman.
For the uninitiated, Ghai’s famous films include ‘Kalicharan’, ‘Viswanath’, ‘Karz’, ‘Hero’, ‘Meri Jung’, ‘Karma’, ‘Ram Lakhan’, ‘Saudagar’, ‘Khalnayak’, ‘Pardes’ and ‘Taal’. Another interesting fact about Ghai is that he wrote and directed about 16 films in his career, out of which 13 were blockbusters at the box office. Another highlight of Ghai’s career is that he was awarded the National Award for the film ‘Iqbal’ in 2006.
