The Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts special, which was announced on November 16, will air on January 1, 2022. The anniversary event will include “all-new in-depth interviews and cast interactions, taking fans on a spectacular first-person trip” through Harry Potter history, according to HBO Max.
Most fans have been extremely excited about the reunion. Some took to Twitter to tweet their excitement which also led the hashtag #harrypotterreunion to trend in multiple countries. Fan edits have been making their way all across Instagram and Facebook and even on Pinterest.
Previously, the Friends reunion gave a nostalgic feeling to all the fans and even gave a retrospective melancholy to everyone watching. Now with the Harry Potter reunion approaching, everyone is set for the Hogwarts journey again.
Emma Watson expressed her excitement on Instagram
Watson used Instagram to mark the occasion and reminisce on her stint as Hermione Granger. “Harry Potter was my home, my family, and my universe, and Hermione (still is) my all-time favourite fictional character,” she added. “I recall a journalist once told me that it was annoying how many times I said how lucky I was during an interview and started counting… BUT I KNEW FOR DAMN SURE!!! And I am still aware of this.”

Speculating the trailer
Professor Dumbledore’s monologue in the first teaser for Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts features an allusion to the passing of time. “Time is a mysterious thing,” he adds in the video, which was posted on November 16. “Whenever I’m unsure, I like to start by retracing my steps.” Following that were clips from some of the franchise’s most iconic scenes, such as Harry’s battle with Voldemort, Ron’s flying Ford Anglia, and a tense quidditch match.
On December 6, HBO Max issued a second teaser that gave viewers a sneak peek at the special’s star-studded programming. Someone who looks like Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena Bonham Carter) is reading a Daily Prophet newspaper with the title “Special Edition: Hogwarts Welcomes Back Alumni” at the top of the clip. Following that, we see Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane) and Neville Longbottom (Matthew Lewis) receiving wax-sealed invitations to Hogwarts, as well as Arthur Weasley (Mark Williams), boarding the Hogwarts Express train and several others strolling towards Kings Cross Station’s renowned 93rd platform.
