It’s officially 2022 and the excitement is in full swing. For pop lovers, only a few stars have announced the albums that will be released in 2022 with titles and release dates fully established. Many other renowned chart-toppers, like Shawn Mendes, BTS, Harry Styles, and a slew of others, are said to be planning comebacks or working on material that will most likely wind up as part of a full album, but fans will have to wait until those performers are ready to make an announcement.
The five most anticipated albums of 2022, as well as some speculations for what might or might not be released this year, are listed below.
Charli XCX – Crash
Charli XCX, an odd-pop performer, will release her new album Crash on March 18, kicking out the year in style. Because most of her recent work has been experimental and more electronic in character than “pop,” the singer herself admits that this collection will be more radio-friendly (whatever that means). The lead single, Good Ones, was a smash in her native nation, and more smashes are expected.
Camila Cabello – Familia
Even though she spent much of the year in lockdown, Camila Cabello had a very busy year in 2021. The former Fifth Harmony member starred in her first film, Amazon’s Cinderella, which was accompanied by a brand new soundtrack. The singer also debuted the first two singles from her upcoming third solo full-length album, Familia. The lead single, Don’t Go Yet, nearly cracked the top 40 on the Hot 100, while the follow-up, Oh Na Na, featuring Myke Towers and Tainy, failed to make much of an effect commercially.
Jonas Brothers – TBD
It’s been about three years since the Jonas Brothers reunited and released Happiness Begins, their return album that was a huge hit with both fans and critics. Since then, the band has released eight singles, and it’s difficult to say which will be included on an upcoming full-length and which will be released as stand-alone tracks at this time. The sibling group should release a new album shortly because the list of new songs contains three top 40 hits on the Hot 100.
BTS
Fans might expect BTS to release an album in 2022, despite the fact that they are presently on break. In terms of full-length albums, the South Korean band had a very quiet year, as they only released one compilation, which was geared at the Japanese market. In 2021, the septet had numerous No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, although only two of them (Butter and Permission to Dance) have yet to be paired with an album.
Taylor Swift – Reputation or 1989
Taylor Swift began delivering on her promise in early 2021, after saying that she would re-record and re-release her first six albums after the rights to all of them were sold out from under her. By the end of the year, she’d released Taylor’s Versions of both Fearless and Red, and neither of them had any trouble debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In 2022, the singer is expected to release two more albums, however, which ones are yet to be determined. At least, one of them will almost certainly be an all-pop set, like Reputation or 1989, and she may even produce both.
