2021 has been a not-so-brilliant year for Bollywood. While the audience saw some big releases like Shershaah, Sooryavanshi and Atrangi Re, there were quite a few deferrals too. Jersey got postponed only to get a new release date just a few days before its release owing to the COVID scare. In all, this bittersweet year was not as fruitful for Bollywood as one would have expected. But with the New Year, there are new hopes and the situation looks a little more vibrant for both fans and their favourite stars, if the experts’ words of Omicron not being a deadly variant are to be believed.

Here are five movies that are most promising for 2022 and are also the most anticipated ones:

RRR

RRR

RRR is a Telugu historic heist flick directed by S. S. Rajamouli and produced by DVV Entertainments’ D. V. V. Danayya. N. T. Rama Rao Jr., Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, and Olivia Morris appear in the film, which also features Samuthirakani, Alison Doody, Ray Stevenson, and Shriya Saran. Alluri Sitarama Raju (Charan) and Komaram Bheem, two Indian rebels, are fictionalised in this larger-than-life story (Rama Rao). The picture, which is based in 1920, is promised to be a visual delight as well as rollicking entertainment.

Puri Jagannadh wrote and directed Liger, a forthcoming Indian sports action film produced by Karan Johar, Charmme Kaur, Apoorva Mehta, Hiroo Yash Johar, and Jagannadh under the umbrellas of Dharma Productions and Puri Connects. Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday appear in the film, which was shot concurrently in Telugu and Hindi. Ramya Krishna plays a supporting part. With this film, Mike Tyson will make his acting debut in the Indian film business. The movie revolves around Lalit, a budding boxer, who is having an affair with Rani, the chief of a criminal organisation. Phuchki, a young widow who desires to win an MMA belt, seeks vengeance upon Lalit and Rani for the murder of her husband.

Laal Singh Chaddha has made headlines owing to its numerous locales, long and arduous filming schedule, pandemic delays, and meticulous Aamir Khan’s incredible metamorphosis into the title character. Advait Chandan directs this long-awaited comedy-drama, which is based on a script by Eric Roth and Atul Kulkarni. The official version of the 1994 film Forrest Gump (based on Winston Groom’s 1986 novel of the same name) is produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Viacom18 Studios, and Paramount Pictures. Kareena Kapoor also appears in the film, as does Naga Chaitanya, who is making his Hindi cinema debut.
