2022 saw the extraordinary reunion of the Harry Potter stars after 20 years of the release of the first movie of the franchise. But, several people quickly noticed a mistake, as a photo of Emma Watson from her pre-Potter early life turned out to be of another actress Emma Roberts. The actress who plays Hermione Granger has now replied to the mix-up.
Emma Watson took to Instagram to post the photo that made such a stir among Harry Potter fans and based on the caption, she seemed to be having a good time with it.
Emma Watson doesn’t seem disturbed by the mixup, adding the hashtag “#emmasistersforever.” Thankfully, the creators of Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts claimed they’d rectify this flaw in the show, and a genuine picture of Watson has taken the place of Emma Roberts.

The franchise apologised
‘Well spotted Harry Potter enthusiasts!’ they stated in a statement to Deadline on Monday. You alerted us to an editing error involving a mislabeled image.’
They went on to claim that they’ve corrected the episode and that a new version is now available.
Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy, humorously claimed credit for the gaffe, writing in the comments, “It was my doing,” accompanied by a snake and a lion emoji.
Fans immediately noticed the mismatch between the two Emmas, with one writing on Twitter, ‘Guys help me literally that’s Emma Roberts, not Emma Watson.’
Another mismatch in the reunion
Oliver and James Phelps, who played twins, Fred and George Weasley, had their names unintentionally transposed on HBO Max. It simply goes to show that even on a high-profile production like Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, a few slip-ups may happen. Even so, if Emma Watson and Emma Roberts ever meet in person, this is a great way for them to bond.
With The Deathly Hallows — Part 2 wrapping off the Harry Potter film series a little over a decade ago, Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and a slew of other recognisable faces reflected on their experience working on the films in Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts. The special’s highlights included Radcliffe discussing his affection for co-star Helena Bonham Carter and a touching homage to the late Alan Rickman. Naturally, not every important cast member from these films was there, including Cedric Diggory’s Robert Pattinson, but there was still much to savour in this almost two-hour HBO Max exclusive offering for Harry Potter fans.
The next chapter
Emma Watson’s most recent part was Meg March in Greta Gerwig’s 2019 Little Women adaptation, and there’s no indication of what she’ll do next. The Fantastic Beasts prequel films are keeping the Wizarding World afloat these days on the big screen. The Secrets of Dumbledore, the following part, will be released in cinemas on April 15.
