Chris Evans in talks to play Gene Kelly

For his next endeavour, Chris Evans is walking into Gene Kelly’s boots. As per Variety, the 40-year-old actor is in discussions to play the renowned actor in a film produced by John Logan that is presently in development. According to a source close to the project, the picture is based on Evans’ initial concept, which revolves on a 12-year-old child working on the MGM lot in the 1950s. As he works on his latest picture, he finds himself making an imaginary buddy in Kelly.

The film has yet to be given a title, and no studio has been assigned to it. According to Deadline, Evans will produce the project alongside T-Street Productions’ Mark Kassen, Rian Johnson, and Ram Bergman, as well as Logan, who will also write the script. Evans, Johnson, and Bergman previously collaborated on the film Knives Out, which was released in 2019.

Evans embraces new upcoming production

Despite the fact that no company has yet committed to the project, Chris Evans is expected to produce with Logan, who is also in control of the writing. T-Street Productions will handle production for Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman, as well as Mark Kassen. The last time Evans, Johnson, and Bergman collaborated was on the film Knives Out, which is now in post-production.

John Logan is a three-time Academy Award nominee who penned Gladiator, Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator, Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd, and James Bond’s Skyfall. Instead, Chris Evans, who is most recognised for his role as Steve Rogers/Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has a busy schedule in 2022. Among them is the animated feature Lightyear, in which he plays Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story. He’ll also appear with Ryan Gosling and Rege-Jean Page in Russo’s The Grey Man. The film is Netflix’s most costly to date.

He’ll appear with Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas in the Netflix adaptation of Anthony and Joe Russo’s 2009 novel The Grey Man, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
