Sitcoms hold a special place in the audience’s hearts. So much so that the makers won’t mind experimenting with this hit formula over and over again disguised as reboots, sequels or requels. And, this is what How I Met Your Father, sequel or a reboot of the hit drama How I Met Your Mother, talks of.
Set in the same universe as How I Met Your Mother, the new drama is created by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. Hillary Duff as Sophie, the protagonist, is seen on a quest for love in 2022. Kim Cattrall is playing future Sophie, the storyteller, in the show. In 2050, she is seen narrating the story of how she found her husband to her unseen son over a video call. Strange enough? But that’s about it.
Why and how to remain unanswered and so does the reason behind bringing this reboot which is, reportedly, not as legendary as the original one, at least that’s what some believe. That said, the drama is definitely a delight for fans of Duff and the original 2005-2014 series, alike.
Is How I Met Your Father arriving on Netflix?
The answer is, sadly, a ‘No’. The drama is releasing on January 18, 2022, on Hulu which might disappoint the fans who are eagerly waiting for the series to return on Netflix. There are very low to zero chances of the streaming giant bringing this spin-off back or even the original series, for that matter.
How to watch How I Met Your Father?
The first two episodes, Pilot and FOMO, will release online together and post that, the series will drop a new episode every Tuesday on Hulu.
How many episodes are there in How I Met Your Father?
The reboot has 10 episodes that will run from January 18, 2022, to March 15, 2022. So, you may brace yourself for a nice laugh, if not loud laughter.
How I Met Your Father Trailer
Since there are some more hours to go before you can watch How I Met Your Father, here’s the trailer which boasts over 7 million views.
How I Met Your Father Cast
The series will be featuring new faces, and here is the complete cast. Hilary Duff plays Sophie, Kim Cattrall is the narrator and lead, Sophie, Francia Raisa appears as Valentina, Tom Ainsley plays Charlie, Tien Tran plays Ellen, Suraj Sharma is Sid, Christopher Lowell plays Jesse, Josh Peck plays Drew, Ashley Reyes plays Hannah, Daniel Augustin is Ian and Stony Blyden plays Jasper.
Since How I Met Your Father is a standalone sequel, we shouldn’t be anticipating any more seasons to it, unless the makers decide otherwise. That said, it would be interesting to watch how the story travels from 2022 to 2050 where the narrator actually is and whether How I Met Your Father manages to grab as many eyeballs as the original series did, if not more.
