Daniel Radcliffe to play Weird Al Yankovic in upcoming biopic

If you are a 90s kid there’s no way you don’t know about the Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe and his awards. For the fans who are always excited to see Radcliffe on screen, there’s some good news. He will be playing the role of Al Yankovic in the upcoming film titled WEIRD: The Weird Al Yankovic Story.  

Yankovic liked Daniel playing the part and said “I’m very happy to say we’re on schedule. And I am absolutely thrilled that Daniel Radcliffe will be portraying me in the film. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for,”.

The film is a biopic on Yankovic. The film will talk about his rise to fame by giving hits like ‘Eat It’ and ‘Like a Surgeon’. His lifestyle, affairs, love life and much more will be shown in the film.

The movie script is written by Al Yankovic along with co-writer Eric Appel who will also direct the project. She also said, “When Weird Al first sat me down against my will and told me his life story, I didn’t believe any of it, but I knew that we had to make a movie about it.”

For the unversed, Al Yankovic’s real name is Alfred Matthew Yankovic. He is said to be a humorous person and is known for this pop music taste for making tracks like Another One Rides the Bus, Canadian Idiot,  Like a Surgeon, Eat it etc. 

He won ‘Grammy Award for Best Concept Music Video’ in 1989, ‘Goodreads Choice Awards Best Picture Books’ in 2011, ‘Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package’ in 2019, and ‘Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album’ in 1985, 2004, and 2015.

On the other hand, Radcliffe has also starred in many other projects like Jungle, The Woman in Black and Horns. You would have recently watched Daniel in the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary.

Radcliffe made his debut when he was 10 years old in the BBC One television film David Copperfield (1999) and made his first film debut in 2001 with The Tailor of Panama followed by Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Till 2011 he was seen in the sequels of Harry Potter in which he played the main role, Harry Potter.

The actor won many awards since he made his debut in Hollywood. Starting from 2001, he won Male Youth Discovery of the Year and Teen Choice Awards for ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. In 2007, he won Best Male Performance for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. In 2011, he won Best Fantasy Actor for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. In 2013, he won Empire Hero Award and Best actor in 2016.
