After breaking the record for nearly two years, the success of Parasite by Bong Joon-Ho is still unmatchable. Bong Joon-Ho, the Oscar-winning director is all set for his next film which stars Robert Pattinson in the lead.
According to Deadline, Bong Joon-Ho will be writing and directing the upcoming film. The story will be based upon Edward Ashton’s upcoming science fiction novel Mickey7.
If reports are to be believed Ashton showed a manuscript of the unpublished novel to Bong at the end of 2021. It instantly connected with Bong and caught his interest. It is also said that Bong has met some of the best Hollywood actors, however, after meeting Pattinson, he knew he was the one for his film.
According to the publisher of the book St. Martin Press, the film will be a psychological thriller and described as “The Martian” meets “Dark Matter.”
The film will be produced by Warner Bros studio in which Pattinson is also working under the contract of the upcoming film The Batman which will release in March. The plot of the film is not revealed yet. Ashton’s book is ready to get published in February 2022.
Bong is also working with WarnerMedia on HBO limited series which is based on Parasite.
Parasite has become the highest successful South Korean film and is also the first non-English language movie that has won the best picture in Oscars.

When the director went on stage to accept the Academy Award for Best International Film, he felt the night is done and said delightfully, “I am ready to drink tonight until next morning,” but went twice on the stage to accept the awards for Best Director for Parasite, the second Asian to win that award, and for Best Picture setting up a big night of becoming the first foreign-language film to win the best picture in 92 years of the history.
Bong’s has also directed some of the other films which include The Host, Okja, and Barking Dogs Never Bite.
For the uninitiated, Robert Pattinson started his career at 17. He started with a TV movie, Ring of the Nibelungs, the role made him stay out of the country for several months. One of the magazines mentioned him as the British Star of Tomorrow. The actor became famous in 2008 after playing the role of Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise which was a great success for him. He was also seen with Christopher Nolan in the film Tenet released in 2020.
