When Emma opened up about her motherhood struggle

In 2020, in an interview with Cosmopolitan, Roberts expressed about the motherhood battles she had during her fertility period. “Ever since I was little, I wanted to have a baby, in theory. When I was a kid, I begged my mom to have another baby. The day she brought my sister home from the hospital, I remember holding her, wanting to dress and play with her. It really started to come to the forefront of my mind when, a few years ago, I learnt that I’ve had undiagnosed endometriosis since I was a teenager,” she stated.

The actress also described her disease which impacted her fertility and the doctors suggested her for freezing her eggs. “To be honest, I was also terrified. Just the thought of going through that and finding out, perhaps, that I wouldn’t be able to have kids….I did freeze my eggs eventually, which was a difficult process. It sounds cheesy, but the moment that I stopped thinking about it, we got pregnant. But even then, I didn’t want to get my hopes up. Things can go wrong when you’re pregnant,” she said.

The actress also called her motherhood experience “eye-opening”. In an interview with People, she said, “That was definitely the most eye-opening, having a child,” She added. “Where before, I’m operating in the world on my own and I’m just kind of thinking about what’s right for me. And when you have a kid, it’s like, wait, how old is he going to be in the year 2050? What’s the world going to look like? For me, I definitely wanted to educate myself more on what I should be doing.”

Before the couple was dating, Emma dated actor Evan Peters for seven years and Garrett dated actress Kirsten Dunst.
