Euphoria, the American teen drama series revolves around a group of high school students who go through various experiences like drugs, love, sex, friendship, and trauma. The show stars Zendaya, Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Storm Reid, Hunter Schafer, Algee Smith, Sydney Sweeney, Colman Domingo, Javon “Wanna” Walton, Austin Abrams, and Dominic Fike. The show is directed by Sam Levinson.
The latest episode of the show was aired on Sunday, January 23, 2022. The show took back the watchers to Cal senior year in high school, which is the time that describes the rest of their life. Young Jock portrayed by Elias Kacavas shows his sexual life as he starts dating Marsha. Though he enjoys his sexual life with his new girlfriend it seems he likes spending time with his best friend Derek with whom he shared a kiss at a gay bar during the night of his graduation. After sharing a good night with Derek, Cal gets shocking news as Marsha tells him she is pregnant.
The viewers then travel back to the present day to Cal’s senior year. He spends his time hooking up with other people, imagining how could he finish his life.
The viewers are in a trace of hope for having Cal and Derek. That’s when Patrick Dempsey’s Grey’s Anatomy character, Derek Shepherd, enters who shares the same story as his 2005 show.
Looking at the previous seasons of the Shonda Rhimes series, Eric played Dr. Mark Sloan who was good friends with Dr.Shephered. But the friendship came to an end when Dr. Sloan slept with Dr. Shephered’s wife Addison Montgomery (portrayed by Kate Walsh).
Fans of the show tweeted to the creator for giving Cal’s best friend the name Derek by remarking “cal’s best friend’s name is Derek though?! sam levinson knew what he was doing.”
Another person shared a picture of McDreamy in which he was writing “If Derek ever comes back to see Cal… I think we all know the perfect actor to play him as an adult.”
The viewers of the show are expecting a good connection between Cal and Derek and think Patrick Dempsey will be the best fit to helm Derek’s role, of course. But we know that the show isn’t the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Levinson is not one of those creators who will blend the shows although the fans of the show are expecting some happy ending.
