The Flash Season 9: Grant Gustin may finalize new deal paving for the series’ renewal

The Flash Season 9

Grant Gustin, who plays the titular character in The Flash, is close to signing a one-year contract to return, according to Deadline. The deal was set to expire at the end of the current eighth season of the CW series, but if the rumors are true, fans will have a reason to cheer. The Flash Season 9, which is likely the final season, may release soon.

There’s a lot of uncertainty among The Flash fans about whether Gustin, who plays the titular character, would commit to another season. Previously, there were rumors about Gustin quitting the series. His statements didn’t help these rumors either. Last year on Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You Podcast, Gustin stated: “I’m very aware, especially in certain moments, of how lucky I am and how different things could have gone up until this point. [But] there’s plenty of things I that I feel like I’ve missed out on,” Gustin revealed. “The past four hiatuses now, I’ve had a hiatus project that has fallen through because of The Flash. There’s a lot of other opportunities out there that have [gone away] because of scheduling conflicts.”

Stephen Amell’s (Oliver Queen in Arrowverse) choice not to continue on Arrow at the same time resulted in the show’s cancellation after the eighth season. Grant was in the midst of negotiating a contract extension that would have taken him through Season 9. But the pandemic had other plans. Because of The Flash‘s illustrious legacy at the CW, the choice had to be made before the show’s Season 8 production concluded in order to give it an appropriate and grand farewell.

The huge popularity of The Flash cleared the path for DC and The CW to produce a slew of other superhero series, including Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, and, most recently, Superman and Lois in the cinematic universe. The program, which premiered in 2014 on The CW and was developed by Geoff Johns, Andrew Kreisberg, and Greg Berlanti, chronicles the life of superhero Barry Allen as he solves crimes with the use of superhuman speed.

It exists in the same universe as Arrow, and various other DC TV shows. With “Armageddon,” which brings together heroes from Batwoman, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, and Arrow, the eighth season of the show has added the extra bonus of a brief Arrowverse crossover.

To fans’ delight, Gustin is expected to appear in a cameo in The Flash movie as his version of the speedster. For DC fans, this crossover is no less than any other Spiderman crossover. In The Flash, the twelfth film in the DC extended universe, Ezra Miller returns as the DCEU’s Scarlet Speedster/Bryan Allen, a role he initially played in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

The Flash Season 9 is currently set for release in November 2022. IT‘s Andy Muschietti is directing the Ezra Miller-led Flash film, which is based on a script by Christina Hodson. Marianne Jenkins will serve as executive producer, and Michael Disco and Barbara Muschietti will also serve as producers.
