Benedict Cumberbatch is scheduled to star in a future science-fiction film, following the success of Power of the Dog. Cumberbatch will star with Laura Dern in the futuristic film Morning, directed by Justin Kurzel of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, as reported by Deadline. In the film, Cumberbatch and Dern will portray a couple, while young actor Noah Jupe will play their kid.
Cumberbatch will appear in the film as a supporting character, with Dern and Jupe are taking the primary parts. The film will take place in the near future and will depict a civilization that has progressed beyond the need for sleep as a result of a new medication and artificial sun.
Morning Synopsis
According to the movie’s synopsis, “Cathy (played by Dern) is an early proponent of the new normal — until her husband Frank’s death (Cumberbatch). Her recollections began to intrude on her waking hours as her restless world crumbled around her. Meanwhile, her son Danny (Jupe), a member of a new generation of people who have never slept, is attracted into a “subversive underworld of dreamers” who revolt in an attempt to recapture their dreams. Cathy will have to strive to rescue her son and face her fears.”
Cumberbatch is also the executive producer of the movie
Along with Adam Ackland, Cumberbatch and Dern will serve as executive producers on the film. Ackland remarked on the film in a statement to Deadline, saying, “Morning is a cheerful, thoughtful, and rebellious narrative about a future not so dissimilar to our own, in which a focus on productivity has obliterated our ability to connect, grieve, and love. We can’t wait to watch Sam’s stunningly unique story come to life thanks to this incredible ensemble and the creative team led by Justin, Laura, and Noah.”
Kurzel’s latest feature film, Nitram, was nominated for the Palme d’Or at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, and lead actor Caleb Landry Jones won the Best Actor award. Apart from Morning, Steiner is now working on the horror film Banquet, which will be directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia.
Meanwhile, Benedict Cumberbatch will next be seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will hit theatres on May 6, 2022. Laura Dern, on the other hand, will soon be seen in Jurassic World 3: Jurassic World Dominion, a science fiction adventure thriller.
