The Colombian singer turns 45 today but it doesn’t seem so. You all have listened to the pop song Hips don’t lie and also the evergreen anthem Waka Waka. The singer gained a huge fan following by such hits. On her birthday, we will take a look back on the singer’s career and her journey to building a successful empire for herself.

The singer was born on February 2 1977 in Barranquilla, Colombia. Her full name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll. Her parents are William Mebarak Chadid and Nidia Ripoll Torrado. She is the only child from her parents but has nine half-siblings from his father’s side. One of her half brothers died at the age of 2 because of a motorcycle accident, Tonio. Shakira wrote one of her songs for her half-brother.

Shakira started her career when she was 13, she signed to record label Sony music Columbia and her third album was released in 1995 after that her pop career take off. The singer begins with the biggest tours till now and also performs concerts throughout North America and South America.

Shakira’s love life

Shakira and her long-time partner Gerard Piqué have been living together for the past 10 years, as per reports. They met on the sets of the Waka Waka and their love story commenced from that now they are parents of two sons Milan who is 6 and Sasha who is 4.

Shakira and Gerard are not married, though.

Shakira’s humanitarian victories

Shakira was only 18 when she started getting involved in humanitarian work, she founded Pies Descalzos Foundation in her home time. Her Foundation aims to improve the education and nutrition of vulnerable children and also support families which helps them improve their quality of life and also fight for their right of having an education.

In 2010, Shakira was signed up for the FIFA world cup song in South Africa, Waka Waka. The song was a pop hit and it was considered the best song for World Cup tracks. She met her partner Gerard Piqué who is a good soccer player.

Shakira’s success

In 2013, Shakira joined as a judge in The Voice sharing the position with Adam Levine, Usher, and Blake Shelton. Shakira decided to leave the show after the sixth season.

In 2016, the singer entered the film industry and gave her voice in the Disney movie Zootopia. The singer voiced Gazelle.

In 2022, Shakira joined Jennifer Lopez to Perform at Super Bowl Halftime Show which took place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami where she performed Hips Don’t Lie, and Waka Waka which was praised by the audience.
