Sonic the Hedgehog 2, a blue extraterrestrial hedgehog with superspeed that lives on Earth with his human companions, is the subject of the forthcoming superhero comedy film Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Sonic is enjoying his independence after defeating the wicked Dr. Robotnik and saving the planet in the first film.
However, his old foe soon reappears under the new pseudonym of Dr. Eggman, in quest of an emerald that would provide him such power that he will be able to construct and destroy civilizations in a matter of seconds. Oh, and Robotnik gets a new ally in the form of Knuckles the Echidna. Sonic joins forces with an old buddy, Tails, to rescue the emerald before Robotnik gets his hands on it and wreaks devastation on the world he now considers home.
Sonic the Hedgehog film series is based on Sega’s 1991 video game franchise of the same name. The previous film’s creative crew returns for the sequel, with Jeff Fowler as director and Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington as writers.

On December 10, 2021, Paramount Pictures published the first official trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Sonic has been “helping” the cops as a vigilante hero since the events of the first film, according to the video. It also introduces Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails and Idris Elba as Knuckles, as well as the reappearance of Dr. Robotnik nicknamed Eggman. On December 22, 2021, a spoof teaser for the film was published, paying homage to The Matrix Resurrections.

When Does Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Come Out?
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will be released in the United States on March 31, 2022, by Paramount Pictures and the Sega Sammy Group. The film’s release date was initially set for April 8, 2022, however, it has since been pushed back.
Who is in the cast of Sonic the Hedgehog 2?
Because it’s a sequel, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will undoubtedly feature all of the important characters from the original film. The main cast members will return to their respective roles. Sonic is voiced by Ben Schwartz, and Dr. Robotnik is played by Jim Carrey (who is now called Dr. Eggman). Tika Sumpter and James Marsden will reprise their roles as Tom and Maddie Wachowski, respectively. Idris Elba, who will voice Knuckles, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey, who will play Tails, are among the new cast members joining the franchise. O’Shaughnessey has also voiced Tails in the video game series and in a cameo appearance at the end of the first film. In addition, Lee Majdoub will reprise his role as Agent Stone.

Who Are the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Characters That Have Been Confirmed?
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will see the heroic hedgehog return to lead the tale with some old pals, as well as a few new characters who will accompany him on his adventure as allies, adversaries, and frenemies.
- Sonic the Hedgehog — Sonic is an extraterrestrial anthropomorphic blue hedgehog from another planet that arrives on Earth to defend it from Dr. Robotnik, his arch-nemesis. He was beaten by Sonic on his previous mission and exiled to a mushroom world, where he promises to return and exact his revenge. Now, under the pseudonym of Dr. Eggman, Robotnik is returned with a new scheme to conquer the world that requires the use of a particular emerald (Master Emerald, perhaps?).
- The Echidna Knuckles – Knuckles is a red echidna who joins Dr. Eggman as another anthropomorphic critter. He is a skilled fighter, but he is also irritable and gullible. He’ll use his tremendous strength to track down the emerald of enormous power.
- The sheriff of Green Hills and Sonic’s friend, Thomas Michael “Tom” Wachowski. Tom aided Sonic in defeating Robotnik and saving the Earth on his last mission. He is not there in the sequel as Sonic embarks on his new adventure. Will Tom reunite with his tiny blue pal? Probably.
- Tom Wachowski’s wife and a veterinarian, Maddie Wachowski assisted Tom and Sonic in defeating Robotnik in the first film.
- Agent Stone – Stone was Robotnik’s personal aide. Stone takes his boss’s position once he is dispatched to the mushroom world. But what happens if Robotnik reappears? We’ll have to wait and see on that.
