Against The Ice is a historical survival film, starring Game of Thrones actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Peaky Blinder’s Joe Cole. It is based on a true story. It is set in 1909, Captain Ejnar Mikkelsen (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is leading Denmark’s Alabama Expedition. The team wants to disprove the US allegation that Greenland is divided into two islands and put an end to their claim to North-Eastern Greenland. Abandoning his ship, Mikkelsen treks across the ice with his young, inexperienced crew member Iver Iverson (Joe Cole). Despite discovering confirmation that Greenland is a single island, returning to the ship proves to be far more difficult than anticipated. They arrive to discover their ship destroyed in the ice.
The movie deals with their fight to survive in extreme paranoia, hunger, and mental state.
“Against The Ice is an intense exploration of two men, two opposites, trapped in an epic dangerous setting,” Nikolaj Coster-Waldau said while speaking with Deadline.
