Finally, the wait is over, after two long years, Sweet Magnolias has again approached us with another season. Based on the popular novel with the same name which was written by Sherryl Woods. Later on, it was developed for television by Sheryl J. Anderson. Sweet Magnolias follows the journey of three childhood Best Friends and how their completely different lives unravel in the idealistic town of Serenity, North Carolina.
The first season was left on a cliffhanger following a bug car accident so it was quite obvious that the streaming giant has returned with another season.
While talking to The People about her perspective about the ending of Season 1, Sherryl Woods, the author, said, “ The cliffhanger accident was not in the books, but boy, what a way to [end]. In fact, when I read the script for the 10th episode, I immediately emailed [showrunner] Sheryl Anderson and said, ‘Netflix needs to renew this minute.”
Sweet Magnolias Release Date
Fortunately, the wait is over and we finally return to serenity today as the release date for the show is Friday, February 4, 2022. All the one-hour 10 episodes will be available for binge-watching.
The completion of the film was established by an Instagram post by Joana Gracia Swisher, who plays Maddie.
“Bittersweet feelings because I’m going to miss this group so much,” she wrote. “But I’m so proud and EXCITED for all of you to see what we have been cooking up in Serenity and can’t wait for this dream team of a cast and crew to (hopefully!) be reunited ASAP to continue the journey!” she said.
Sweet Magnolias’ Cast: Who is in it?
All the major characters are returning to the show. The three Bestfriends and lead characters of the show that’s Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Helen (Heather Headley), Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott),
Other characters include Bill (Chris Klein), Cal (Justin Bruening), Tyler (Carson Rowland), Kyle (Logan Allen), and Annie (Anneliese Judge are returning as well.
Jamie Lynn Spears (Noreen), Dion Johnstone (Dana Sue’s head chef Erik), and Brandon Quinn (Dana Sue’s estranged husband Ronnie) have also been promoted to series regulars.
There are other characters playing a major angle like the Mayor’s daughter who was injured in the car crash. Sou chef of Dana sue, Chris Medlin who could also be her son and Helen’s past lover Ryan, Michael Shenefelt
Also, there is no stopping there because there will be various new additions to the series that would make things quite interesting. Although it is not quite clear who the new arrivals will be, they will definitely have a significant impact on the series.
Sweet Magnolias Season 2 Plot
It is pretty much clear that the show will begin with Maddie, Helen, and Dana Sue learning who is in the car crash but that’s one of the first initial twists of the series. The series unveils surprises all along with the concept of distance in friendship, Rekindling of new romances, and concluding old ones. Secrets buried deep inside the surface start to float on the service and everyone is affected by it.
The chaos is on the top in the town of serenity but even in situations like these, Sweet Magnolias stand strong, fighting for the right things. They put the utmost value on themselves and the people around them.
