Based on Agatha Christie’s 1937 novel of the same name, Death on the Nile is a gripping mystery-thriller about the inner turmoil and terrible repercussions of obsessive love. It also serves as a prequel to the 2017 film Murder on the Orient Express, which was based on Christie’s novel about the world-renowned detective Hercule Poirot. Kenneth Branagh, who directed Murder on The Orient Express, also directed Death on the Nile, in which he reprises his role as Hercule Poirot alongside an all-star ensemble playing the many passengers aboard. Due to the pandemic, this film has been postponed six times in just two years.

Four-time Academy Award nominee Kenneth Branagh returns as the iconic detective Hercule Poirot, who will be investigating an all-star cast of suspects, including Call Me By Your Name actress Armie Hammer as Simon Doyle, Wonder Woman Gal Gadot as Linnet Ridgeway Doyle, Indian actor Ali Fazal as Andrew Katchadourian, Black Panther fame Letitia Wright as Rosalie Otterbourne, Sex Education lead Emma Mackey as Jacqueline De Bellefort and Forgetting Sarah Marshall actor Russell Brand as Doctor Ludwig Bessner.
The other cast members include Annette Bening (American Beauty) as Euphemia, Dawn French (Coraline) as Mrs Bowers, Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones) as Louise Bourget, Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous) as Marie Van Schuyler, and Tom Bateman (Behind Her Eyes) will play Bouc.
Death on the Nile Plot
In the novel, Poirot is drawn into a murder investigation while on vacation in Egypt. A socialite, Linnet, approaches him and requests that he stop her friend Jacqueline from stalking her after she marries Jacqueline’s fiancé, a request that the detective gently declines.
However, when Linnet is shot dead while on a boat up the Nile (on which Poirot is also a passenger), it is up to the detective to find the perpetrator. Although Jacqueline is the most apparent suspect, no guest on the boat is safe from Poirot’s investigation.
