OH MY GIRL all geared up to make a March comeback

A piece of good news for the K-pop lovers. OH MY GIRL is all set to make a comeback! Yes, you read that right.

On February 7, 2022, WM Entertainment confirmed that OH MY GIRL will be returning as a full group this March. This will be their first comeback in 10 months following the release of their 8th mini album Dear OHMYGIRL, in May 2021.

OH MY GIRL is a South Korean girl group, known for their heavenly vocals and elegant dance, under WM Entertainment. The group made its debut in April 2015 with the EP Oh My Girl. The group was actually composed of 8 members, but JinE left the group in 2018 due to health concerns. Currently, there are seven members: Hyojung, Mimi, YooA, Seunghee, Jiho, Yubin and Arin. They were promoted as the label-mate of the famous boy group, B1A4’s sister group.

OH MY GIRL has been popular since its debut days, but it took the group a while to gain commercial success. The group performed their debut solo concert, “Summer Fairy Tales,” at the Blue Square Samsung Card Hall in Seoul, South Korea, in August 2016. On July 22, 2016, tickets went on sale and were sold out in three minutes, breaking the record for the fastest sold-out concert by a rookie artist.

Even after being so popular, it took 3 years for them to finally get their first win. With Secret Garden, the group earned their first music show trophy on The Show on January 23, 2018, and their second trophy on Show Champion on January 24, 2018.

In January 2019, OH MY GIRL released their debut album in Japan, which debuted at number one on the Oricon Daily Album Chart and also topped the Billboard Japan Top Albums Sales chart. The group also competed in Mnet’s comeback battle program, Queendom, in the same year, finishing 1st runner-up in the final episode.

In April 2020, WM Entertainment announced that the group would reunite on April 27, with Jiho returning from her break. Following that, the group teased that their return would be with their seventh EP Nonstop, which featured a game-themed concept. The EP and the music video for the lead single Nonstop were released on April 27. The single and B-side track Dolphin became the group’s highest-charting releases at the time, peaking at second and ninth on the weekly Gaon Digital Chart, respectively. This was their head start to commercial success and international popularity.

OH MY GIRL has been on a steady rise in popularity with the release of Nonstop and Dolphin in 2020. Both songs were high-charting releases for the band at the time. Furthermore, their 2021 single, Dun Dun Dance, became a certified mega-hit, earning the girl group their first chart-topper, peaking at number one on the Gaon Digital Chart.

Ever since this growth in popularity and quality in discography, OH MY GIRL has never looked back, be it by gaining multiple brand endorsements or girl group brand reputation ranking, they have been at the top.

A comeback announcement after almost a year has made fans extremely excited and curious as to what new the girl group is bringing with their upcoming music project.
