Super hyped John Wick prequel has seemingly started gaining momentum. A new set of the cast has been released again for the prequel series, The Continental, as per the reports by Deadline. Katie McGrath, Ray McKinnon, Adam Shapiro, Mark Musashi, and Marina Mazepa have recently joined the cast.
Earlier announcements included Colin Woodell, who will be playing the role of Winston Scott; Mel Gibson cast as a character named Cormac and Peter Greene has been cast as Uncle Charlie. Hubert Point Du-jour, Mishel Prada, Jessica Allain, Nhung Kate, and Ben Robson have also been confirmed.
In the base film, John Wick Continental Hotel has been portrayed as a safe house for assassins where the only applied rule is abstaining from killing inside the walls. The Hotel is owned by Winston Scott. Set in 1970s New York City, the spin-off prequel The Continental will narrate the story of young Winston. His story will be told from the very beginning to his being the hotel owner.
Colin Woodell, who will play young Wilson, has nabbed spots in the shows like The Flight Attendant and The Purge as well as movies like Ambulance and The Call of the Wild. He played Aiden in the supernatural television drama series The Originals and Tyler Richmond on Designated Survivor.
Peter Greene, who will be playing the role of Uncle Charlie, is well known for playing antagonists. ‘Zed’ in Pulp Fiction has been one of his best-known roles where he portrayed a sadistic security guard, rapist, and serial killer. Last he was seen on Body Brokers as Dr. Riner.
Musashi and Mazepa have been cast as Hansel and Gretel, two High Table assassins. Mazepa has earlier been on The Girl in the Woods, Malignant, and The Unholy. Musashi has been in stunt work for television shows like Iron Fist and Wizards of Waverly Place as well as movies like Feral and Avatar.
McGrath has been finalized to play The Adjudicator. She is best recognized as Lena Luthor in the American superhero series Supergirl and Morgana Pendragon in the BBC One series Merlin. She’s been a part of films like Jurassic World and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword too. McKinnon will step into the role of Jenkins. Recently he’s been seen in the 2021 series, Dopesick. He is best known for playing Reverend Smith in the series Deadwood by HBO, which had three seasons and 36 episodes and aired from 2004 to 2006. Later he switched to writing, direction and production as well. He wrote, produced, directed, and played ‘Snake’ in the 2004 film Chrystal. Shapiro landed the role of Lemmy. Shapiro has been featured in Mindy Kaling and Netflix’s Never Have I Ever as well as the film drama, Mank.
The Continental is being written by Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward who are also in the position of executive producers. Chad Stahelski, Derek Kolstad, David Leitch, Shawn Simmons, Paul Wernick, and Rhett Reese will also executive produce alongside Thunder Road Pictures’ Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee.
