Mark Tuan’s new single My Life debuted at No. 15 on Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs chart this week, which ranks the most-talked-about tracks on Twitter. Tuan, also known as Mark, has already been on the list, and now that he’s landed a second slam, he’s become a member of a very select club.
Tuan is only the third solo male K-pop singer (an artist primarily recognized for generating music that may be classed as K-pop) to have several entries on the Hot Trending Songs chart. In this remarkable performance, he matches his Got7 bandmate BamBam and BTS member Jin.
Tuan’s solo song Last Breath was the first to chart on the Hot Trending Songs chart. That song peaked at No. 16 and stayed on the charts for two frames.
Jin made history by being the first solo male K-pop artist to have two songs on the Hot Trending Songs chart, and both of them are still in the top ten. Yours reached No. 5, while Super Tuna had already peaked at No. 8, where it lands this time.
BamBam, a member of the South Korean boy band Got7, is the only other solo male K-pop artist along side Mark to have several songs on the Hot Trending Songs chart.
Only a few other solo male performers concentrating on different types of music have been on the Hot Trending Songs chart more than once, outside of simply K-pop stars. When all artists are considered, Harry Styles, Mew Suppasit, and Dimash Kudaibergen join the list of those who have appeared on the list twice.
Mark’s present career tangent
Tuan, along with the other six members of Got7, decided not to extend his contract with JYP Entertainment in January 2021. Tuan started a YouTube account after he left, and it quickly grew to over a million followers before he had ever posted any video. He then posted his first video on January 21.
Tuan’s firm, Mark Tuan Studio, opened on February 7 in Beijing, China, with an emphasis on his solo Chinese operations and marketing. On February 12, he collaborated with Sanjoy Deb on the tune One in a Million. On Valentine’s Day, Tuan published an animated music video on his YouTube page, which he also executive produced. Tuan is the executive producer of Got7’s new music video, Encore, which was released on February 20.
On March 17, 2021, the third garment line created in conjunction with Represent, dubbed XC3, went on sale. Tuan signed with Creative Artists Agency on April 29, 2021. He was named the ambassador for Sisley’s Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream on June 2. Tuan was on the cover of L’Officiel Philippines alongside Winnie Harlow in the same month. Tuan became the first artist to partner with Anessa for a limited edition Artist Box on June 16, 2021.
He sang Never Gonna Come Down with Bibi for the film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in the second half of the year. This was his very first OST. Rick Owens, Raf Simons, Lanvin, and Balenciaga were among the designers he saw at Paris Fashion Week.
