Marvel Movies has a separate fan base. You all will be aware of the fact that Sony’s Spider-Man Universe movies have a good performance at the box office. Movies like Venom or Venom: Let There Be Carnage have been a great success. Now, Sony is coming up with another movie, with Kraven The Hunter.
The film has already been given a release date and is all set to release on January 13, 2023. Due to the pandemic situation, a lot of work came to a stop, and also the shifts in the project created a huge mess. After witnessing the success of Venom: Let There Be Carnage at the box office recently, we’re hoping Kraven to get a similar exclusive response on theatrical release.
Kraven the Hunter Plot
The upcoming film will be about a big-game hunter who becomes smitten with catching Spider-Man just to prove he’s the best hunter in the world. He does not use guns or other weapons instead he tries to trap and defeat his target with his bare hands.
*Probable Spoilers Ahead*
The movie’s screenwriter has stated that the film is uplifted by the Marvel Comics storyline Kraven’s Last Hunt. In this, Kraven ends up hunting Spider-Man, he buries him and puts on his suit, and adopts the persona of The Spider Man just to track down an inaccessible Spidey villain named Vermin and put his all effort to prove he’s a better Spider-Man than the original Spider-Man.
However, the twist is, it will be revealed that Spidey wasn’t actually dead, so the web-slinger appears from the grave and tries to fight Kraven to take back his veil. Though Kraven doesn’t encounter the hunter’s eyes as he has already proven himself as the superior version and he takes his own life because he thinks there’s nothing more left he can prove.
It feels unlikely that Sony Pictures would acclimate that storyline directly on the big screen, but the screenwriter did especially say that Kraven will come face to face with Spider-Man in the movie. That’s something big as Tom Holland is approaching the end of his time as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it implies that Holland will be pivoting around in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe of films.
The synopsis by IMDb says, “Russian immigrant Sergei Kravinoff is on a mission to prove that he is the greatest hunter in the world.”
Kraven the Hunter Cast
The upcoming film is directed by J.C. Chandor and is written by Richard Wenk. No such information is released regarding the cast of the film, but we assume that Aaron Taylor-Johnson will play the lead role but no such public announcement have been made. Russell Crowe will also be part of the upcoming film as confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter and will be playing the role of one of Kraven’s family members probably his father.
Kraven the Hunter Trailer
No trailer is released by the production yet. The production of the film hasn’t started but Murphys Multiverse reports said, “Production start dates have always been tentative and now, more than ever, it’s important to keep that in mind, but assuming no delays, it sounds like Kraven the Hunter will begin production in the UK next month.”
