Hannah Baker, a high school student who commits suicide, is the protagonist of 13 Reasons Why. After Hannah, Clay’s late classmate and infatuation, commits suicide, he receives a package of cassettes from her. Hannah recounts the 13 reasons why she took her own life on the cassettes, which are passed on to other pupils based on Hannah’s instructions.
13 Reasons Why debuted in 2017 as a series version of Jay Asher’s YA novel of the same name. The series has been chastised for romanticizing suicide or portraying it insensitively, as well as for containing a brutal suicide scene. Langford and executive producer Selena Gomez, for example, have recognized the controversy while praising the show for tackling “serious problems.” Hannah’s death sequence from Season 1 was taken out by Netflix in 2019.
13 Reasons Why Season 5
The series conclusion of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why may feel long overdue after years of controversy, but fans of the smash adolescent drama may still be yearning for more. (Since its fourth season was launched on June 5, the series has been hovering near the top of Netflix’s trending list.) Showrunner Brian Yorkey, on the other hand, believed the program was designed to be a “four-season tale” from the beginning.
“Somewhere in the midst of making season 2, when it became clear that we might have the chance to make more seasons of this,” he told Entertainment Weekly, “I pretty quickly got to a place where it felt like a four-season story.”
The fourth and last season ends with the characters graduating from Liberty High, but fans of 13 Reasons Why will be disappointed to learn that Yorkey has also ruled out the possibility of a college spinoff. “I’d love to see how some of these characters fare at college,” he continued, “but I also love the notion of leaving it up to all of our imaginations and making this a four-season high school program.”
This makes it quite obvious that we might never see 13 Reasons Why Season 5. Not only this but the stars – Dylan Minnette, Ross Butler, and Alisha Boe – have also bid goodbyes by documenting their moments in a short video. You can watch it here.
