SEVENTEEN’s Wonwoo tests positive for COVID-19 and temporarily halts all activities.

On February 12, 2022, Pledis Entertainment released a statement announcing that SEVENTEEN member Wonwoo will be sitting out of all the upcoming activities for now, due to testing positive for COVID-19. Fellow member Hoshi has also been announced to have halted all his upcoming activities as a precautionary measure since he was in close contact with Wonwoo.

SEVENTEEN is a 12 membered boy group under Pledis Entertainment and is divided into three units. The hip-hop unit consists of members – S.coups, Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Vernon; the vocal unit is composed of Woozi, Jeonghan, Joshua, DK, and Seungkwan; and the performance unit is composed of Hoshi, Jun, The8, and Dino.

Wonwoo and Hoshi COVID-19

As the other SEVENTEEN members just took a break, Hoshi was the only one who met Wonwoo. Despite the fact that Hoshi’s self-test kit and quick antigen test both came back negative, he is still waiting for the results of his PCR test.

As a result, neither Wonwoo nor Hoshi will be attending any of SEVENTEEN’s upcoming events, including today’s Attacca release online event.

As reported by Soompi, Pledis’ English statement read:

“Hello. This is PLEDIS Entertainment. We would like to provide you with some information on SEVENTEEN member Wonwoo being diagnosed with COVID-19 as well as adjustments in his activities.

Wonwoo tested positive on the self-test kit after experiencing a sore throat and a mild fever on Friday, February 11. He promptly took a RT PCR test and was confirmed with COVID-19 on the morning of Saturday, February 12. Wonwoo is currently not exhibiting any extraordinary symptoms other than a sore throat and mild fever and is administering self-treatment at home.

Hoshi, who came in contact with Wonwoo on February 9, took both a self-test kit and rapid antigen test which both came back as negative. He also preemptively took a RT PCR test to ensure the safety of others and is currently waiting for the result.

Wonwoo and Hoshi COVID-19

As it was during the artists’ period of rest, all SEVENTEEN members other than Hoshi had not come in contact with Wonwoo and were staying at their parents’ house. All other SEVENTEEN members preemptively underwent self-testing, which all came back as negative and none of them are presenting any symptoms.

Therefore, both Wonwoo and Hoshi will not be taking part in the SEVENTEEN 9th Mini Album “Attacca” Release Online Event today and the following activities for the time being. We will provide you with updates on their future activities.

We will continue to provide support for the rapid recovery of Wonwoo, placing our highest priority on the health and safety of our artists. We will also continue to fully cooperate with the requests and guidelines of healthcare authorities.

Thank you.”

Wonwoo and Hoshi COVID-19

Even though no other SEVENTEEN members either came in physical contact with Wonwoo and Hoshi or were showing any symptoms, they all took a test with the help of a self-testing kit, and fortunately, all of them came back negative.

We wish Wonwoo a speedy recovery and hope Hoshi tests negative in the final PCR test.
