The Sound of Magic, a live-action adaptation of the popular webtoon Annarasumanara, is all set to arrive on Netflix in 2022!
The Sound of Magic is a psychological K-Drama series written by Kim Min Jeong, directed by Kim Seong Yoon, and based on the webtoon Annarasumanara by Ha Il-Kwon.
JTBC is producing the series, however, unlike JTBC’s internationally licensed K-Dramas, which generally release episodes weekly, Netflix will obtain all of the episodes once they are released.
The Sound of Magic Plot
As mentioned on What’s on Netflix, “Abandoned by her parents because of debt, Yoon Ah Yi supports herself and her younger sister. Despite how busy she is with her part-time job and her studies, Yoon Ah Yi is still one of the top students of the school. All Yoon Ha Yi wishes for is to grow up as fast as possible so that she can have a stable job, and when she reveals her dream to the magician Lee Eul, her life is changed forever.”
The Sound of Magic Release Date
The Sound of Magic was expected to release in 2021, however, it was delayed due to the suspension of filming for a few weeks as one of the main leads, Ji Chang Wook, and a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.
It has now been lined up to release in 2022, no date has been confirmed yet.
The Sound of Magic Cast
Choi Sung Eun will be playing the role of a high school student, Yoon Ah Yi. Choi started out acting in short films and as a theater actress at the Doosan Art Center. She landed her first major role in a feature film after passing an audition for the comedy film Start-Up (2019). She is known for her role in SF8 (2020) and Beyond Evil (2021).
Hwang In Youp will be portraying Na Il Deung, a talented high school student who is completely absorbed in his studies and has no idea how to communicate with others. Hwang began his career as a model and eventually landed his first acting role as the lead in the 2018 web series, WHY. He is best known for the breakthrough role, Han Seo Jun, in True Beauty (2021). He is also known for his roles in the television series The Tale of Nokdu (2019) and 18 Again (2020). Hwang is also confirmed to lead the SBS drama Why Her which will air in the first half of 2022.
Magician Lee Eul, a mysterious magician who wants to remain as a child even after becoming an adult will be played by the talented, JI Chang Wook. Ji is a Korean singer and actor. He rose to fame with his lead role in the daily drama series, Smile Again (2021-2011). He began his career in musical theatre and made his onscreen debut with the film, Days… in 2006. Ji’s breakthrough came through his role as Toghon Temür, the 16th emperor of the Yuan Dynasty, in the historical drama Empress Ki. Nam Da Rreum, famous for playing the younger self of the main leads in every possible drama, will be seen yet again in The Sound of Magic as the young Lee Eul.
Other cast members include Lee Sang Hwa, Hong Seo Hee, and Yoo Jae Myung.
