Where is she now? She is currently awaiting trial in the US on wire fraud charges. Almost four years after Holmes and her fraudulent biotech company, “Theranos”, came to light, Hulu is now set to release their highly anticipated series, The Dropout about the rise and fall of the world’s renowned CEO.

Oscar nominee Amanda Seyfried stars as Elizabeth Holmes and also serves as a producer. She replaces SNL’s Kate McKinnon, who was originally supposed to play the lead. Naveen Andrews — best known for the series Lost—plays Holmes’ boyfriend and chief operating officer of Theranos, Sunny Balwani. Along with Seyfried and Andrews, the all-star lineup includes Utkarsh Ambudkar, Kate Burton, Michel Gill, LisaGay Hamilton, William H. Macy, Elizabeth, Laurie Metcalf, Dylan Minnette, Alan Ruck, Sam Waterston, and Michaela Watkins, among others.
The Dropout Plot: Who is Elizabeth Holmes? Where is she now?
The series will follow the rise and fall of Holmes, a Stanford University dropout who found Theranos, a medical testing company. They claimed to just need a drop of blood for its supposedly revolutionary diagnostics technology. At her peak, she herself was worth $6 billion, and her company was worth $9 billion. She graced the covers of prestigious magazines like Forbes and Fortune and was referred to as the ‘female Steve Jobs’. Theranos, once a multibillion-dollar company, came crumbling down after it was found that the technology allegedly didn’t work, putting the health of thousands of people in jeopardy.
After being indicted on felony charges in 2018, Holmes was found guilty on four counts of investor fraud in January 2022, according to the BBC. Elizabeth Holmes is now 37 years old and waiting for the trial, and she lives in San Francisco with her 29-year-old husband, hospitality heir William “Billy” Evans, whom she married in 2019. In July of last year, they welcomed their first child, a baby boy. (via Cosmopolitan).
The podcast that the series is based on has been ranking high in the Apple Podcast app’s charts for a while now. “How did the woman once heralded as ‘the next Steve Jobs’ find herself facing criminal charges—to which she pleaded not guilty—and up to 20 years in jail?” reads the logline of the podcast.
