In a new cast announcement, AMC revealed more names who are set to join the living force against the dead in the upcoming series, Tales Of The Walking Dead. The new cast includes Olivia Munn (The Predator), Danny Ramirez (The Falcon & The Winter Soldier, No Exit), Loan Chabanol (The Transporter Refueled, Fading Gigolo), Embeth Davidtz (Ray Donovan, Matilda), Jessie T. Usher (Dangerous Lies, Shaft), and Gage Munroe (Nobody, The Shack).

In October 2021, the AMC Network gave a green light to a The Walking Dead spin-off by the name of Tales Of The Walking Dead. The series will be premiering on AMC and AMC+ in Summer 2022 and the production is expected to start anytime soon. The aim of the series is to bring new stories and new characters to the already set universe of The Walking Dead. According to the makers, the upcoming project is an anthology series of six episodes where each episode will be standalone with its own stories and characters both new and old. AMC took to Twitter to release the first poster for the show soon after the first announcement.

The first wave of casting was announced in early February, with some very unexpected faces like Anthony Edwards (ER), Parker Posey (Lost In Space), Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine Nine), Poppy Liu (Hacks) and Jillian Bell (Brittany Runs A Marathon) as most of them are known for their comic appearances and this series belongs more to the horror side. As per Collider, Scott M. Gimple, the chief content officer of the Walking Dead Universe and executive producer for the new series, had explained in a statement that the tone of the series will span a wide range of human emotions.

Parker Posey

“Anthony, Jillian, Terry, Parker, and Poppy are the first wave of singular talents who will further expand the Walking Dead Universe into harrowing, hilarious, heartfelt, and horrifying new realms, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome them to the family along with these terrific directors,” Gimple said.

As an anthology series, it will have six completely disconnected episodes and for that there are multiple directors as well. Those directors will include Haifaa al-Mansour (Good Lord Bird), Deborah Kampmeier (Star Trek: Picard), Tara Nicole Weyr (The Wilds), and Michael Satrazemis (The Walking DeadFear the Walking Dead) who’s also the producer of the series.

With the new announcements regarding the upcoming series rolling out one after the other, one can expect first look photos and teasers to be around the corner too. The released dates haven’t been announced yet but it can be expected sometime in Summer 2022.
