Best One-Season Shows on Netflix

Who doesn’t like some time to sit back comfortably with a cuddly blanket or a bowl of popcorns and watch their preferred television shows as they like. Netflix caters to two kinds of audience, first, who are into series with multiple seasons which keeps one hooked for a very long time, and second, who want their content to be short and sweet and they don’t prefer to spend a long time on one specific title.

So, for the second section of viewers, here’s a list of some absolutely worthy shows with one season available on Netflix for streaming:

Sweet Home (2020)

The South Korean drama revolves around Hyun Soo who moved into a new apartment after a family tragedy. As he tries to take his life being overwhelmed with grief and sadness in life, the country gets hut by a pandemic. Not any regular one but one who turns humans into deformed monsters on the basis of one’s inner demons. Hyun Soo gets infected too but joins with his inner demon and becomes a powerful superhuman, now responsible to save himself and other survivors in stuck in his apartment building. 

The Queen’s Gambit (2020)

The Queen’s Gambit is a period drama that can also be considered as a coming-of-age for the protagonist, Beth Harmon. The story revolves around Beth, an orphan, a chess prodigy and her quest to become an elite chess player while struggling with emotional problems, drugs and alcohol dependency. The story is fast paced in seven episodes however it doesn’t lose its essence at any point. 

Alias Grace (2017)

The series is based on Margaret Atwood’s 1996 novel of the same name, following Grace Marks, a young lady accused of murdering her employer and their housekeeper. The show is more like a miniseries of six episodes but it very nicely portrays the inequality of that time where she was accused without any hard evidence just because she was a poor Irish immigrant who doesn’t have the means to prove her innocence.

Safe (2018)

Safe revolves around a father who starts an investigation to find his missing daughter who went out for a party and never came back. As he goes through the town searching for answers, he discovers clues regarding his daughter and the lies his friends and neighbors wove in order to hide their faults and mistakes. The series highlights the helplessness of a parent who can do nothing but wait for their child to back. 

The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window (2022)

The series revolves around Emma who is an alcoholic and very much dependent on substances. Emma finds herself in a ‘new neighbor’ situation when Neil and Anna move in across the street. Things get intense when Emma wakes up one morning sure of the fact that she witnessed a murder the previous night when she was very much drunk. She was confident of the fact that the victim was Neil’s girlfriend, Anna. Emma starts her own investigation when law enforcers rejected her complaint on the basis of her substance abuse. 

Archive 81 (2022)

Archive 81 is a horror thriller drama revolving around an archivist by the name of Dan. He’s approached for a job as a restorer for a bunch of taped and camera which got into fire but the footage needs to be retrieved. Due to the fragility of the tapes, they couldn’t be moved so he was required to stay in an isolated building in order to do the job. Things start to mess up when he watches the damaged tapes in hopes of recovering the footage, instead falls deep into the unexplainably horrifying events occurring in the tapes and outside.
